PS. Takes more faith to be an atheist IMO. Try proving that God doesn't exist.
A flop is a flop.
What do you call an atheist’s funeral?
“All dressed up and no place to go!!” Ba-doo-bop!
Hey, didja know that Lenin’s Tomb is a commie plot?
Ba-doo-bop!
OK, atheist FReepers, flame away. G-d is my secret Judge.
Only a few atheists think they can prove that God does not exist, or would waste their time trying.
For most atheists, including me, God is just a subject about we don't particularly concern ourselves one way or another. The existence or non-existence of God is probably about 17,283rd in the list of things I think about.
I'll never try to convert you, and all I ask in return is the same courtesy.
Oh yes, I have argued before that atheism is a religion.
It is a religion whose god is man.
Hehe :)
No flames from me though, I believe in Jesus Christ.
For every obnoxious atheist who runs around railing against religion and suing to get the creche taken off the courthouse lawn, there are a hundred more who just quietly unbelieve, and are perfectly willing to "let people be foolish". I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are a few of them sitting in the pews at your church.
That's their story and they're stiking to it.
I don't believe in atheists. :^)
There is profound truth in saying: "There are no atheists in foxholes."
Gay atheist sheep herders?
An Oscar winner for sure.
Well, I know there’s one sitting in the White House right now. :o)
Militant atheists do believe in God on a basic level. You don't expend that kind of energy on something you don't believe exists.
They have a deep and abiding hatred of their "father" and simply project it towards God. They are victims of abuse and on some level are angry with God because they see Him the same way they see their tormentor or they are angry with God because of what happened to them.
Their hatred invariably winds up directed at anyone who believes in God. They can't hurt God, but they can villify and malign those who believe in God and religion, and attack God by proxy.
That thought did occur, you're right! Hmmm ... I'm sitting here trying to think of one, but I don't go to movies much. But I can think of a lot of favorite secular movies that, usually even unknowingly, show and enforce Christian ethics, in some really neat and profound ways. My personal favorite unknowing messenger was Soldier with Kurt Russell. A really nice tale of redemption! Nothing Christian in it, except that it had all to do with love, and ... well, you know what the bible says about love.
Atheists, go ahead and be atheists, that's your dealy-bob. Remember that the civilization in which you live rose from about 15 thousand generations of people adopting the framework of the Judeo-Christian ethic. Lincoln didn't free the slaves, Judeo-Christianity did, and British sailors and Royal Marines shed their blood to enforce it because they came from a Christian nation.
The JD has very simple rules. Ten Commandments, "Do Unto Others," seven deadly sins (such as envy, which is the most evil malady affecting our popular culture -- where it should be condemned, it is welcomed and sympathized with. DISGUSTING) ... you don't have to "believe," you don't have to pay tithe, you don't have to acknowledge Christ, you can just ride along and do right and prosper with everybody else. But don't for a minute think humanity was born with the Judeo Christian ethic in place. Islam has an ethic that dooms it to strife and misery. Heathen folks in tribal situations will kill their own kids; just read about a tribe somewhere doing it a few months ago. People aren't born with the JD morality. It's taught.
I don't call atheists freeloaders. They're taggers-on. They contribute as much as anybody as long as they adhere to the JD ethic.
Atheists, remember how you got here, who's backs you're riding on, and I THANK YOU, as I bet that in your lives you pretty much adhere to the Judeo-Christian ethic. You just forgot where it came from.
I’m looking forward to the Christian vs. Atheist rallies when the movie Suing the Devil opens in theatres next month.

I was doing a movie review of “soul Surfer” (which I didn’t especially like) and the Wikipedia article mentions that the Hollywood folk wanted to air brush out “the Bible” from the book her father read at her bedside, and to eliminate that one quote was from the bible (i.e. not mention where she got the quote). This was supposed to make it palatable for “ordinary” audiences.
My review was critical because the movie glossed over the family’s deep religion in the plot, (the “religious” scenes seemed to be plopped in there out of context) but made it instead a movie about finding the American dream of being famous and successful.
(( ping ))
Most atheists are people that have not yet found their way to God. Growing up, growing older, having children and losing parents has a real unique way of opening a person’s eyes.

I am good friends with a woman who escaped polygamy at 18. She spent almost 30 years as an atheist, then became a Christian. She now runs a Christian ministry to those trapped in polygamy and has a TV show exposing polygamy in Utah.
Yeah, but seriously...who wants to see Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens having sex?
What is it with all the atheist proselytizing these days?
I can’t understand why they get so freaked out about stuff they don’t believe in.
Hey atheists, go lecture the Muslims, let us know their reaction to your efforts. The rest of us don’t care about your non-belief in stuff you don’t believe in.
Sheesh!
