Looks like us Catholics have our first real televangelist scandal. Pray for this poor man. It appears that his life is a disaster.
I agree, something does not seem right...we may never know all. But as for me..I pray for him. What ever the truth...
Someone else responded similarly once, only it is usually rendered as Non serviam rather than "Bite me."
I saw Fr. Corapi speak in public and regularly listened to his lectures. If there was anyone aware of the snares of sex and money, it was him. I am stunned by this.
Sorrow and forgiveness come to mind. If Fr. Corapi feels defamed by his accusers, he may now have a cause of action against SOLT as well for this press release. One wonders if SOLT considered advice from their lawyers before issuing this damning press release.
In other words, dangus, the "due process" you were commenting about.
The link worked when I grabbed it from Patric Madrid’s Facebook post. The EWTN server crashed under the stress and June 24 is the latest post it now shows.
The original link is working again (refresh the page.)

The establishment of justice goes far beyond the work of initial investigators. Don’t get me wrong: I’m not saying Fr. Corapi is innocent; I’m only troubled by the fact that the initial report of a fact-finding team is being presented as a conclusion, not as an allegation.
I believe you......I read this earlier today on Raymond Arroyo’s FB page. His, too, was a link to EWTN. I can validate your post. It’s not a hoax.
I am very saddened by this, as I (and many others) found him to be an inspiring preacher.
But I have to say, I always had an uneasy about the level of marketing and merchandise that he proffered on his web site. This from a man in an order with a vow of poverty!
I had considered subscribing to his monthly service but the price of subscription was higher than what I was accustomed to paying for podcast type services.
Of course it is easy to say this in retrospect, but SOLT sure gave him lots of leeway, didn’t they? A private compound in Montana for a member of a religious order (again, with a vow of poverty!?). The conditions were very ripe for this kind of thing.
The main lesson to me is the vulnerability of everyone, but especially priests, to Satan’s attacks.
Given Corapi’s litigious nature, I would gather that SOLT has him cold through emails and text messages. I doubt that they would release this without careful consideration of the consequences.
Let’s see if Corapi obeys his superior and returns to residence. I won’t hold my breath waiting....
I loved Corapi's speaking style — so refreshingly different from the milquetoast "love is good" preaching I am accustomed to. But personality cults are never a good thing. I am also leery of the cult-like adoration of Blessed JPII and Mother Theresa.
Put your faith in Jesus and His Church, nowhere else.
The EWTN link is working now.
This still is not absolute proof of guilt, but I simply cannot imagine that a faithful and reliable website with which Fr Corapi had previously been associated would say anything like this, unless they were absolutely convinced that it was true.
When Fr. Corapi said he was resigning from the priesthood, I thought that was very suspicious. Then he explained it was in order to sue his accuser. Now it looks as if that was a desperation move, too.
I found your link very informative, particularly for the forcefulness with which Raymond Arroyo held that one if falsely accused should bear down and defend himself. He was also correct in that this was part of being a public person and came with the territory.
Then there was the commentary regarding the imagery of ¨The Black Sheep Dog¨ and how it appeared ¨demonic¨.
It´s very sad yet, like a train wreck, difficult to look away from.
Very interesting thread indeed. Thanks so much for posting.
This is a matter of some pain to Catholics, especially orthodox Catholics, since Fr. Corapi often expressed in his sermons that many “leaders” in the church were too fearful to say.
I am not one to be pedantic about Caucus threads, but I suspect by your answer that you are not Catholic yourself?
ONE of the points of having a concept of a Caucus thread is to be able to be able to discuss events within the faith community without having someone use it as a launching pad for attacks on the religion itself.
I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt that you are either Catholic and disgusted by our “leaders” behavior over the past, say, 40 years (as many of us are) or simply were not aware of the nature of Caucus threads.
Nevertheless, I think it somewhat uncharitable to bring up the abuse crisis in this context.
Thanks for the ping... I may throw up. None of my priest friends have ever liked Corapi and I’ve been a big fan... nothing says “Monday” like feeling this stupid, except it’s Tuesday.
