The church’s position runs so counter to the growing acceptance of same-sex relationships

I found this sentence particularly interesting. The writer notes that it's the church that's running counter, rather than the sin running counter to the church's teachings. It's as though he's suggesting that the church is somehow in the wrong for not caving to a changing society.

And anyone who thinks that God should change His moral laws just because society changes its attitudes about those laws is a fool. God is not mocked.

Thank you VERY MUCH for posting the link to the bishop's statement. The msm is so focused on the catholic response that they have neglected to include other faiths. Watching the protests last week at the state capitol, I saw many Baptist choirs and Hasidic jews raising their voices and carrying placards. You would never know it from the news broadcasts that have followed passage of the bill. I was sure that rabbis, evangelical ministers and orthodox priests were also outspoken on this issue but could not find any news articles that discussed them ... just the Catholic Church.

This is a time for ALL of us to join our voices as one, The lone democratic dissenting Senator Diaz, is an Evangelical minister. He could certainly benefit from a few words of thanks and support for the actions he is presently exploring to overturn this bill. You can read his reaction at the following link.

(NY Senator) Diaz Says Christians 'Pray Too Much and Act Too Little'

Thank you, again, for posting that link! May God have mercy on us all.

Instead of this constant, “Me,Me,Me” and it's not fair hissy fit crap. Do this, quit the Church and start your own religion. That way you get what you want and you can show us how tolerant and Superior you are. What you say? I am not getting it? Sure I am, it's all about what you want, not what any one else wants. But your the more tolerant. I guess the Gays are feeling super confident. I actually thought they would wait a bit before starting the next phase of there plan.

I just don’t get it.

They claim to be Catholic. Being Catholic means accepting all that the church teaches, believing it to be TRUTH without ERROR. Why then do they want to change it?

One receives the Eucharist because one is Catholic, one is not Catholic merely because they go to communion.

Well, I am shocked and outraged that the queers are violating the first amendment by inserting their POLITICAL views into my RELIGION.

We need to change the argument. Marriage is not a legal institution, it is a Christian sacrament and a religious rite. My husband and I didn’t get married for legal reasons, we got married because it is a covenant between us and God. Any legal protections (given for the protections of children anyway) stem from the fact that it was a Sacrament first.

By the queers (and I know enough to know they are all queer) insisting on gay marriage they are making a political pawn out of my faith and that is government interference in religion.

homosexual acts are “acts of grave depravity”.
Sounds about right to me.

I watched an excellent show earlier today on EWTN regarding this topic.

This link takes you to the Ruth Institute home page. On the right side of the page is a link to the program.

“Marriage: Love and Life in the Divine Plan Family Conference,”

Well worth watching.

I guess the Gays are feeling super confident. I actually thought they would wait a bit before starting the next phase of there plan.

While they may have the 'appearance' of utter confidence, I suspect that what is driving them is desperation. They have thus far not been able to counter the true 'vox populi', but have only been able to suborn legislatures and courts to their will. They never won a true public referendum, and likely feel they never will.

Thus they will 'strike while the iron is hot', building on this 'victory' in NY. One can already see what is coming, if one takes the time to look...

I will gladly accept my persecution for my Roman Catholic faith. My Church is built on The Rock and it will never back down to this evil. Thank you, Lord!

Well goody for them. The good news is that they are free to leave the Church or not join in the first place. They would be happy in the Episcopal church (which I recently left), the ELCA or some part of the Presbyterian. I know, I know, the point doesn’t have anything to do with choice, it’s all about the absolute demand that their “lifestyle” not be just tolerated but absolutely accepted and promoted by everyone and everything.

"Even though the hierarchy has gone astray from the times of Christ..."

Son, if you were face to face with Jesus right now, he would tell you what he told the prostitute, "Go and sin no more.".

This is an orchestrated attack on the Catholic Church because the Catholic Church has not backed down to the homosexual agenda. Just wait. The homo-nazis will start attacking any other religious body that refuses to back down. This was planned.

Yes, it is a planned invasion. Just today a group posing as a Southern Baptist organization pulled off an elaborate hoax that claimed that the Southern Baptist Convention was on the verge of formally supporting "gay marriage" and repenting of its stance on homosexuality, and the hoax backed up the false claim with a press release, phone number and website. The FR article is here.

They were able to fool one major Catholic blog who had posted the release as legitimate but then quickly pulled it.

And aren't they supposed to go to confession first in order to receive communion? I wonder if they leave the part of their homosexual activities out during confession? Do they somehow think God will ignore their duplicity?

Homosexuals are welcome at Mass, we just don't need to know about their sexuality when they're there. Mass isn't about politics, it's about the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins. We are ALL sinners in need of forgiveness, but we don't flaunt our sins when we're there in Jesus's presence.

There should never have been a Mass planned to commemorate Gay Pride Week, and whoever in the Parish authorized it needs to be kicked in the butt, THEN read the Catechism.

"Both men not only rail against Church teaching but explicitly say that a main reason that they remain active parishioners is to "change the Church."

Yep, so there should be NO compromise with them, in the Church.

One should not go to confession without the intent of true repentance and a resolve not to sin again.

One cannot openly live and promote a homosexual lifestyle and think going to confession every week or whenever is all that is needed.

The same is true for any sin. God wants true repentance. And God knows all that one may choose not to disclose or to forget or refuse to admit even to themselves.

I truly believe that a lot of people have been duped by Satan through the use of popular culture and “spiritualism” to think that they may sin with impunity presuming God’s forgiveness.

Again, true for all manner of sin, not just homosexuality.

I agree. I asked because, just as pro-abortion politicians attend their church services and participate in its sacraments with impunity, I wondered why these homosexuals could still be involved with their church and not be faced with church discipline as outlined in Scripture. A homosexual lifestyle, if out of the closet and known, is something a loving pastor/priest and fellow members should and must help those caught up in it to be free of that life of sin. Living in blatant sin is prohibitive to a victorious life of glorifying God and bringing praise to his name. It is instead a great cause of shame to a church and an inroad of the devil into perverting others.

I think the only way any church can make a stand for righteousness is to openly teach the holiness in which God demands that his flock dwell. To some, looking away from sin seems loving and kind, but, as you say, it is an evil ploy that Satan uses to corrupt the church from within and causes great shame to all those who name the name of Christ. Certainly, we should never turn anyone away who is genuinely seeking to know the Lord, but we should not omit the message Jesus gave the woman caught in adultery, "Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more.". That is truly loving people in Christ.
