The claim that Einstein thought God was synonymous with “the Universe” is a bridge too far. It might be possible to claim that he did not believe that God was in any sense accessible to us, but that his creation was; that is quite a different thing. However, as I said before this line of claim was brought up, Einstein was not a Theist and of that there can be no doubt.
