Are we seeing the Drought mentioned in the Book of Joel that heralds the Day of the Lord?

Russian drought (2/10/11) http://blogs.wsj.com/source/tag/russian-drought/

Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God?

The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered.

How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.

O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field.

The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness. (Joel 1:15-20)

No.

There are droughts somewhere every year.

In this age, we just hear about every flood, comet, earthquake, fire, riot, drought, etc now because of the speed information flows.

Much of the US is wet this year..

Droughts and floods cause worldwide famines, droughts and plagues, with 6 billion on the planet, maybe your personal garden will feed some of these folks.....

Worst Texas Drought in 44 Years Sending Food Prices Sky High
Damage to wheat sends dependant food prices sky rocketing.

“Texas, the biggest U.S. cattle producer and second-largest winter-wheat grower, got just 4.7 inches (12 centimeters) of rain on average in the five months through February, the least for the period since 1967, State Climatologist John Nielsen- Gammon said. More than half the wheat fields and pastures were rated in poor or very poor condition on March 20.”

Why don’t you keep your eyes on the glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the hope of the Gospel?
If you go back and read about the End Times that began in Christ’s days on earth, you would see that souls beyond numbering will be brought into the Kingdom of God before Jesus returns again, and that is Good News!

You’re anticipating that there’s going to be an ark to get on? During a drought?

wet spring here also.
however, in fairness, i enjoyed this article.
her 1st link, was: Israel’s seventh consecutive year of drought (3/29/11) http://www.jpost.com/NationalNews/Article.aspx?id=214229
and unless you are a Mormon, i don’t think much scripture refers to North America... so, the drought in Israel seems much more relevent than flooding in Louisiana...
also, it is interesting, that overall, water supplies around the world ARE diminishing, as aquifers are being depleted. Saudi Arabia is phasing out growing wheat, for this reason. ...and this article also surprised me:

>>>Something weird was going on recently. The other night, there were some strange ‘booming’ sounds in the sky, followed by bright flashes of light. We then had some sort of chemical substance come down on us. Very strange. What is even weirder is the news cover-up. Not a single front page story on the event<<<

Some evil corporation with ties to Bush, Cheney, & Halliburton was illegally dispersing dihydrogen monoxide in your area. I feel your pain. It’s been happening on and off in my neighborhood for several days now - and not one thing is being reported about it.

That’s it. I’ve also heard this Dihydrogen monoxide is some nasty stuff. Kills people every day. It is also a chemical solvent.

I wonder why these signs are going unreported.

As I said, we have had droughts before and there are other food producing states besides Texas. Politicians cause famines as the stupid people who shut off the water to some CA farmers. As for floods and droughts they come and go and have always done so. Your hysteria is unwarranted and just another chicken little screaming that the sky is falling.

It’s everywhere!! It’s everywhere!! It’s been dispersed in my neighborhood for several days now - and we can’t make it stop!

I believe that “end times hysteria” is a form of untreated mental illness.

A teenaged girl in our homeschool group is holding a “cicada picnic” out at her family’s farm to teach younger children about the life cycle and let them see the creepies and their hulls.

I remember the last time this happened, when we lived in Oklahoma. Anoreth and Bill collected the shells.

What we see occurring now is nothing at all to what is predicted Tara P.....these are cycle and weather related issues we've always faced as a nation in one form or another.

The difference is people are getting caught up in these happenings because the Internet and journalists can relay them as they are happening. There is no wait time as in the past.....and so it's an allusion in a sense.

i agree about the “hysteria”. the Brother Campy group preparing to leave on May 21, is a perfect example!
However, Jesus wouldn’t have explained it all in Matthew 24, and warned us to be vigilant, and told us, even if we don’t know the hour, we WOULD know the season...
unless he wanted us to pay attention to those events.
but this is a joyous watch. post 25 by WestwardHo is best!

There was one full day of sunshine in the Ohio Valley near Pittsburgh in April. May hasn't been much better.

Winter saw above average snowfall here.

The Mississippi is flooding and we will probably have a cooler, wetter than average summer because the ground is saturated.

IIRC Northern Europe had above average snowfall and has been wet. There was extreme flooding in Spain.

Now there may be parts of the planet that are experiencing drought but not here.

Wouldn't drought in a biblical sense would be world wide to a devastating effect?

I could be wrong.
