Let's face it, most of our lives aren't too exciting and hearing about others dangerous deeds in faraway places kind of takes the thrill out of mowing the grass and making sure plastic is recycled.

However..........a lie is still a lie.

What I find ironic is that, if given the choice, I'd much rather be a pastor than a Navy SEAL - because the pastorate is a God-honoured position that has eternal value, while being a Navy SEAL is not.

It's sad that this pastor had to throw away the eternal value he had, all for a lie about some earthly military position that has no value in light of eternity.

“the pastorate is a God-honoured position that has eternal value, while being a Navy SEAL is not.”

Exactly what is NOT ‘God-Honored’ about a Navy Seal? Who is ready to lay down his life for his team mates and country?

David was a warrior, was he not?

There are plenty of reprobates who happened to get through Divinity School as I would imagine that there are people who make it through SEAL school who I would not want my daughter to be involved with.

I would not assume that God automatically honors all of them. I would assume that honor only comes from deeds, not 'education.'

That said, on a percentage basis, I would trust the average SEAL over the random divinity student.

I think a large number of people live in a fantasy world and once in a while they let it slip out.
Then they become Secret Agent Man or a Seal or met the one armed man in a bar, something, anything and I have heard some real prize winners.

Whereas as you say, their ordinary lives are honorable and useful but somehow not enough. People is nutz at times.

I think God probably prefers SEALs as drinking buddies over pastors. Most pastors are wussies.
