[1] The word of the Lord that came to Joel the son of Phatuel. [2] Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land: did this ever happen in your days, or in the days of your fathers? [3] Tell ye of this to your children, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation. [4] That which the palmerworm hath left, the locust hath eaten: and that which the locust hath left, the bruchus hath eaten: and that which the bruchus hath left, the mildew hath destroyed. [5] Awake, ye that are drunk, and weep, and mourn all ye that take delight in drinking sweet wine: for it is cut off from your mouth.
[6] For a nation is come up upon my land, strong and without number: his teeth are like the teeth of a lion: and his cheek teeth as of a lion's whelp. [7] He hath laid my vineyard waste, and hath pilled off the bark of my fig tree: he hath stripped it bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white. [8] Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. [9] Sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of the Lord: the priests, the Lord's ministers, have mourned: [10] The country is destroyed, the ground hath mourned: for the corn is wasted, the wine is confounded, the oil hath languished.
[11] The husbandmen are ashamed, the vinedressers have howled for the wheat, and for the barley, because the harvest of the field is perished. [12] The vineyard is confounded, and the fig tree hath languished: the pomegranate tree, and the palm tree, and the apple tree, and all the trees of the field are withered: because joy is withdrawn from the children of men. [13] Gird yourselves, and lament, O ye priests, howl, ye ministers of the altars: go in, lie in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: because sacrifice and libation is cut off from the house of your God. [14] Sanctify ye a fast, call an assembly; gather together the ancients, all the inhabitants of the land into the house of your God: and cry ye to the Lord: [15] Ah, ah, ah, for the day: because the day of the Lord is at hand, and it shall come like destruction from the mighty.
[16] Is not your food cut off before your eyes, joy and gladness from the house of our God? [17] The beasts have rotted in their dung, the barns are destroyed, the storehouses are broken down: because the corn is confounded. [18] Why did the beast groan, why did the herds of cattle low? because there is no pasture for them: yea, and the flocks of sheep are perished. [19] To thee, O Lord, will I cry: because fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness, and the flame hath burnt all the trees of the country. [20] Yea and the beasts of the field have looked up to thee, as a garden bed that thirsteth after rain, for the springs of waters are dried up, and fire hath devoured the beautiful places of the wilderness.
He wrote after the return from Exile, c. 500 BC. +Peter during Pentecost (Acts 2:16-21) quotes from Joel 3 to say that its prophecy of the outpouring of the Spirit, who will descend on all the people of God in the messianic era (3:15) was fulfilled in The Church
Though I do read this as in a slightly different light, Joel may reflect a lot of your beliefs in dispensationalism
-Joel 2:28-
Miracles can still happen today.
our friends like Dr. Eckleburg or RNmomof7's group may not agree when their doctrines say that "the view popularized today by the neo-Pentecostal movement.
| In essence this view would have us believe that we can have the same charismatic gifts that we read about in the age of the Apostles - such as prophecy, speaking in tongues, and healing - today.... is a very serious error. In essence it is a result of a failure to grasp the Biblical teaching concerning the history of salvation. They are even more wrong when they say that Never again will there be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit such as took place on the day of Pentecost. |
I am a member of a prophetic church. We offer prophetic ministry every Friday night.
How do you guys insure this, seriously?
We offer prophetic ministry every Friday night.
What do you mean by "prophetic ministry"? If you mean "prophetic" as in "speaking forth the Word of God" and that Word of God is only from the Bible, then sounds like a great ministry.
On the other hand, if "prophetic" is taken in its bastardized 21st century form to exclusively mean "foretell future events", then you don't have a "church", you have a "coven".
The Scriptures say that God will reveal events to prophets beforehand. It is important to weigh what they say to the Word of God.
We recently had a guest pastor from the former Soviet Union preach at our church. He grew up worshiping in underground churches. He saw his father imprisoned on more than one occasion.
He saw the Holy Spirit work on his father's behalf.
One night as his father was snoring, the Holy Spirit spoke through him saying, Thus sayeth the Lord, Tomorrow three people will come to your door...two women and a man. Beware. They are with the KGB.
His mother wrote the message down and handed it to her husband the next morning. He had no recollection of what he had said.
Sure enough the next morning three people came to the door...two women and a man. They pretended to be Christians. The father welcomed them in.
During dinner his father pointed his finger at them and repeated what the Holy Spirit had spoken through him. The three jumped up, started to shake and ran out the door.
My question is, Will we find faith like this in the United States?
PRAISE GOD FOR THAT!

How do you insure that God even exists? There is no clear-cut answer to your question, but then you probably already knew that.
I can only tell you of my own experience as someone who serves on a prophetic team.
Personal prophesy is not like national prophesy. It is not some kind of fortune-telling gimmick. It is instead a way to edify and encourage God's people. It is a step of faith for the person doing it.
From my own experience, I never know in advance what I am going to say to someone, but I push forward and start speaking what the Lord is putting on my heart. Many times, I can visibly see a reaction in the person that the words are hitting home. Several weeks later, the person may come to me and encourage me with confirmation that the words I spoke were right on. I give praises to God, but I have no recall of what it was that I had said to them.
I also remember when I received my first prophetic word. I was a new Christian at the time and was hesitant of what happened to be going on at the time. I knew that God was too busy to concern himself with me (an unGodly belief). But lo and behold, a member of that team, with microphone in hand, came up to me, asked me my name, and began to prophesy. This person had never seen me before, yet she read my mail. She knew exactly what my attitude was toward God, and she knew exactly what my concerns were. Then she assured me that God would address my concerns. And do you know what? He did. I hope that helps.

Another Benny Hinn, Bob Tilton worshiper. How's all of those bad prophecies of Hal Lindsey working out for you? Are you still handling snakes and shoving live scorpions down your pants?
Your religion mocks Christianity. Keep it to yourself.
Well, it isn't the same type of ministry that the Pharisees defined, I can assure you of that.
I meant — how do you insure that it is from God and not a demonic utterance? Seriously and I am not saying any of your group have the latter. I’m just asking how you differentiate and know between the two?
BLESSED BE THE NAME OF THE LORD!
BLESSED BE THE WORD OF THE LORD!
BLESSED BE THE WAYS OF THE LORD!
BLESSED BE THE LORD GOD OF ABRAHAM, ISAAC AND JACOB!
CHRIST THE CREATOR GOD, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS SAID:
My sheep HEAR my !VOICE!
For that NOT to occur--given that God cannot lie:
1. folks must not be HIS SHEEP if they don't hear His voice.
2. a lot may be tuning HIM out--deaf spiritual ears--which can be alarmingly close to a seared conscience . . .
There aren't a lot of BIBLICAL options on this score.
The answer is yes. There has been and is such faith and devotion, not only in the US but globally. look at the persecuted Christians in Iraq and Pakistan for example.
Do you remember the preacher’s name? We had a guy visit our church from the Ukraine. He explained how Christians would be sent to a gulag for exercising their beliefs.
The local congregation there has no mirrors either?
I thought the RC’s had a monopoly on no mirrors.
