Prayer Request for my Severe Allergy Problem

Posted on 04/22/2011 7:53:46 PM PDT by NCSEADOG

I am a longtime lurker here and visit nearly everyday.

I have developed a severe allergy problem. I have been told by my allergy Doctor that I am "allergic to iodine when taken as food in combination with other elements" In other words I can't tolerate iodine in my food. He said I am the first true case of this type he has ever seen. Many people think they are allergic to Iodine but in fact are allergic to a protein found in shellfish.

I am living off of a few juiced raw vegetables, organic unsalted peanut butter, oranges, orange juice and organic strawberry preserves. That seems to be all I can tolerate. If I "make a mistake" I have the following symptoms.Immediate severe "tightening" of the muscles starting high up my back and eventually spreading up my neck and to the back of my head. This leads to pretty severe headache, elevated blood pressure..last time it went to 180/111 . I am retaining a lot of fluid and feel weak.I have gone into Anaphylactic shock, thrown up etc. Unexplained rashes across my face and my entire scalp. I also suffer from colitis and diverticulitis.

I spoke with a local Doctor this week who told me he had no idea what could be done to help me.He advised me to get as many Christians as possible to pray for me and stated that "you need Divine healing". My allergy Doctor has been good to help with supplements etc which have given me more strength but has also stated that he does not know what can be done and that my healing would have to come from God.I have been to several doctors, herb people, chiropractors etc and none have been able to help me.

I am 47 and the father of two and a happy grandfather. I am a Christian and I am trying hard to be at peace with whatever my future holds. The thing I struggle most with is the financial burden my sickness has brought to my family. I do not have the strength to work a normal work week and struggle with staying on top of things at my office. We are facing immediate financial crisis and long term issues as well.I hate having to be preoccupied with our needs instead of spending my time and efforts in service to God & my fellow man.

I ask you my Free Republic friends to pray for me and my family.

I can do salt, but it’s kosher salt.

NO additives at all.

If it cakes, I just beat the container against the edge of the counter until it breaks up again.

OK. The reason it has to be unsalted is because I don’t know the kind of salt and if it has any additives. So unsalted is it for me if I’m out.

I carry a small container of sea salt with me if I’m going to be out and think I need to eat.

About five years ago, at age 50, I had a allergy/rash show up suddenly. I took prescriptive medication for two years and suddenly it went away. Been allergy free for at least 3 years now. Hopefully it won’t be a life long problem for you either. Wishing you the best of luck and hope you get better.

Can you put some rice in it to keep out moisture? I never tried it but heard about it. Are you able to have fruit - like blueberries?

I can do blueberries sometimes.

There are a few foods I can do little bits of, not too often.

I never heard about the rice but can give it a try.

When I was in the hospital NPO for a couple of days the food commercials near killed me. Especially the red lobster ones.

The hospital channel (they had a terrible lineup - CNN, USA, Lifetime, and network tV and TNT) was food and exercise and nothing else. I kept thinking, they think they are helping, and in the meantime, I bet half the people in this place can’t eat anything they are showing.

As someone who has all kinds of food difficulties (nothing like yours, though) I am well aware of how society tortures folks like us through food.

I hope you get some kind of victory soon. I understand what you mean when you say you’d rather not eat at all. I told my doctor that and he didn’t understand.

Every time they put me on clear fluids I end up just sick, sick, sick.

The Environmental Health Center in Dallas http://www.ehcd.com is expert in dealing with problems like yours. Talk to them. They helped me big-time about 25 years ago.

Prayers up for a speedy recovery.

(Keep the Faith, my friends! We are the saviors of the Republic! Now and Forever!)

Unless you've been there, there's just no way of understanding. And you can smell food everywhere. You don't realize it until you can't have it.

The problem is, you have to eat to survive, but are forced to eat only a few items or pay the consequences, which are NO FUN.

I went to a baby shower recently, and it included a meal. So I took along my chicken and toasted oats and munched on that while everyone else heartlessly heaped up all kinds of food on their plates and chowed down. I hadn't done something like that for a while, and it was harder than I expected, so I will continue my moratorium on social events which involve food.

I’ll guarantee you you do NOT have an allergy to iodine. Iodine is a mineral our bodies need to live. It is also a very potent detox and the symptoms people have when taking iodine are detox symptoms.

You need to get on a high dose of quality magnesium for your allergies and read up on iodine. Get Dr. David Brownstein’s book ‘Iodine: why you need it; why you can’t live without it.

Dang!

Is there IODINE in almost ALL food??

I wasn't aware of this.

Prayers INDEED!

Since folks can take some type of iodine for radiation poisoning; I wonder if some radition might affect the iodine in your case??

get a good, unrefined salt (celtic, real salt, himalayan), make sure it has NOT been refined. Put a 1/2 tsp in 3-4 oz of warm water and drink it. Follow it with 12 oz of clean water. do it a couple of times over an hour period.

The chloride in salt removes toxins from your body. Also, do get on a GOOD magnesium. I will help you if you’re interested.
