A guide (and quiz) for Holy Week (Catholic Caucus)

Here's the perfect resource to help you prepare for Holy Week. It's OSV's Guide to Holy Week, which includes information on traditions -- Easter egg coloring, baking sweet breads, making palm crosses -- as well as a quiz and this helpful list of 12 tips for making Holy Week more meaningful:

1. THINK PRAYER. If you have to work or go to school during Holy Week, think about how you can incorporate prayer breaks into each day.
2. MAKE AN ADDITIONAL SACRIFICE by fasting and abstaining from meat on Holy Thursday and Holy Saturday in addition to Good Friday.
3. DON'T WATCH TELEVISION from sundown on Holy Thursday until Easter morning.
4. GO to confession.
5. SET ASIDE 10 minutes every day to read Passion accounts in the Gospels.
6. Make it a point to FORGIVE someone on Good Friday.
7. PRAY the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.
8. OFFER UP any pain or difficulties you experience during Holy Week and unite your sufferings with the pain of Christ.
9. PRAY the Stations of the Cross.
10. ATTEND all of the Triduum liturgies.
11. INVITE family members, friends and neighbors — especially people who have strayed from the church — to come to church with you.
12. VOLUNTEER to help decorate your parish on Holy Saturday for Easter.

My Knights of Columbus Council garnered $1,500 for our Charity Fund making Palm Crosses this weekend. Saturday morning we will be making breakfast for 100 teenagers from our Youth Group participating in a 24 Hour Food Fast.

Excellent!

Unrelated but of interest to other K of C members. Local area Muslims purchased a tract of property directly behind our K of C Hall on which they have now constructed the area's first single minaret mosque. Keep in mind, that stretch of road has LOTS of vacant property and no one actually knows why they chose that particular lot. Our major K of C summer fundraiser is the annual "pig roast". This should make for an interesting showdown as there are no plans to cancel it. Nor should there be, since we have been on that property and hosting that event for decades. The stretch of land on which the pig roast takes place, is directly between their mosque and our hall. Please keep us in your prayers!

Hello Please do the Divine Mercy Novena Starting on Good Friday ending on Divine Mercy Sunday (follws Easter Sunday)

Freeper Salvation has been posting daily Divine Mercy messages. Personally, I pray the Divine Mercy chaplet each day at 3 pm. This year we are especially blessed in that on Divine Mercy Sunday, Pope John Paul II will be beatified.

Thank you for the reminder to all who visit this thread!

Here are some FR threads about Divine Mercy -- but I was thinking about posting them on the Ecumenical thread of Exceprts from Saint Faustina's Diary during that time. Or shall we have a separate thread? Or both?
