I find it a common idea among Anti-Mormons to say it is wrong to pray for Gods guidance in understanding God's word.
Are you also saying that we need not pray and get guidance from God?

I find it a common idea among mormons to say that the ONLY way to find God's guidance in understanding the word is from prayer.

I also find that mormons lack critical thinking skills that the same God has provided man to gain understanding from the written word.

I also find that mormons fail to use the tools available to understand more difficult passages - to apply cultural context and the definitions of the associated greek or hebrew underlying the english text. Further, I find that mormons have no knowledge what the term 'context' means when reading scripture - tending to cherry pick the verse and lift it from its greater context and redefine the terms altogether.

I find that mormons brainlessly follow what they are told a passage means, rather than dig it out for themselves.

But then you missed elsie's point altogether and didn't even come close to addressing it - did the Bereans have it wrong, simple yes or no, unless you are willing to provide detailed justification otherwise.

Ya just gotta answer the question that SHOULD have been asked sometimes!
