Report: Human error, inadequate fire alarm contributed to Provo Tabernacle fire (Mormonism)
ABC4 (Salt Lake City) ^ | March 31, 2011

PROVO, Utah (ABC 4 News) - The Provo City Fire Department has released the full report on the December Provo Tabernacle fire.

The 135-page report outlines events leading up to the fire from December 17th that destroyed the historic landmark in Provo.

Trax Lighting and AV arrived at the Tabernacle a few days before the fire to setup lighting for a concert that was to be taped by BYU Broadcasting.

During the setup of a lighting truss, a technician said he set aside two lamps that were part of the in-house lighting system.

Fire officials believe these lights were placed too close to a speaker which started the fire two days later.

The report notes a number of circumstances and human errors that contributed to the unintentionally set fire.

Provo fire says the fire alarm in the building was inadequate and failed an inspection on December 2nd, two weeks before the fire.

The fire alarm system was only monitored in the building, meaning an alarm wouldn't automatically trigger a response from the fire department.

There was also not an automatic sprinkler system in the building that fire official believe would have controlled the fire.

The fire alarm system had a history of false alarms that may have have lead building personnel to "become apathetic to the system as a whole."

At 1:10am the morning of the fire, a fire alarm was triggered and a security guard disabled the alarm and did not contact the fire department, delaying a response to the fire by nearly an hour and a half.

“then you get to be baptized in the Mormon temple whether you wanted to or not.”

Them ‘baptizing’ you in their temple carries no magical meaning. I has no meaning at all.

Baptism is a profession of faith and not a means of salvation. Nobody can baptize another without their knowledge or participation.

Spent a few days in Salt Lake on business. I expected the city to be a bit bigger.

We went to a very nice restaurant for dinner. They asked if we wanted wine with dinner. Our choices were red or white.

Is all this bitterness because you missed a wedding?

There ya go assuming (Mormon temple wedding)...Sorry, my family's Mormonism runs in the other direction...

There ya go assuming (bitterness)...violating FR protocol by reading minds (ya might want to reconsider your personal commandment of "Thou shalt judge personal inward motivations of strangers"...as if you had your magic 8-ball handy for such a task)

You don’t see them viciously attacking others...

Oh, they delegate that to their tithe.

(There's a certain typical Lds philosophy we hear: "Speak softly and carry a big Mormon 'scripture' stick")

Definition of such a "stick':
"You Christian sects are 100% wrong;
100% apostates;
100% creedally putrid;
100% corrupt as believers...
100% false and dead church...
...Signed: Cordially, your "nice" Mormon neighbor
P.S. "Of course, we'll be polite & use Lds missionary doorstep language like 'universal apostasy' instead of pointing our fingers right @ you..."
"...and we'll fund the outer darkness out of hundreds of different Pearl of Great Price & D&C translations which mention ALL of the above...so our 'big stick' will seem once-removed..."
"...But make no mistake about it, we've sent out literally over 1 million Lds missionaries who've carried this 'Big Stick' around the world!!!"

Some day I'd like to experience the same, I just don't get the ongoing bashing of Mormon's here.

I mean WTF, so you don't agree with the religion, neither do I, but I don't bash it 24/7.....I don't agree with Catholicism either but sheesh.

No assumptions, only questions for clarification. Its nice when their missionaries knock on the door. It gives me a chance to discuss Christs salvation with them.

Wow, you, yourself are completely weak and corrupt in your own faith if that is what you believe.

It was nice. Felt very small town and everyone was very nice. Skiing looked ok although we didnt get a chance. We did go snowmobiling (company sponsored) which was really cold but fun.

Mountains aren’t as grand as Colorado.

Baptism is a profession of faith and not a means of salvation.

My guess is you haven't come face-to-face with these Scriptures:
In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water, 21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ... (1 Peter 3:20-21)

38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:38-39)

Why isn't that interesting. A promise for children...and even children yet to be. And the focus in v. 39 is upon whom the Lord will call -- NOT simply who calls upon the name of the Lord (Acts 4:12).

“My guess is you haven’t come face-to-face with these Scriptures: “

There ya go making assumptions.

Baptism is a profession of faith. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Saviour, the believer’s death to sin, the burial of the old life, and the resurrection to walk in newness of life in Christ Jesus.

Baptism does not make you a believer, it symbolizes that you already believe. It’s important to understand that baptism does not “save” you. You are “saved” only through your faith in Jesus. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Mormonism sends out 52,000 missionaries worldwide every day, 24/7.

{Knock...Knock}

{Door opens}....uninvited, two young men in white shirts and ties and nametags (of 52,000 similar young men worldwide) greet the Christian homeowner...

"We have come to tell you about the news that the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored after being taken from the earth because no one was worthy to follow Jesus' Apostles until Joseph Smith became a prophet....and to show you how you can spend eternity with your wife and family in the presence of God and Jesus Christ...if only you will join the mormon church and leave your Christian belief behind."

"Just read this book, pray about it and you will receive a message from the Holy Ghost that the only way to salvation is by being baptized and confirmed as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, after which if you obey the rules which govern what you drink, what you wear and how much tithing is required, you MAY be worthy to enter our temple and take part in arcane rituals that will bind God to recognize them and grant you exaltation".

"...oh...you may have to act as a janitor for our buildings in order to become "worthy", but I'm sure that won't be a problem.

THAT IS THREE MINUTES OF HATE!...MULTIPLIED 26,000 TIMES PER DAY.

Wow, you don’t get it do you?

One who has faith does not have to quote nor belittle to know....you don’t know.

You need to work on that.

I could care less, I know the truth....does that shake you or scare you?

Question your own faith, not others.

Your posts do nothing but give us the opportunity to reply and keep the thread bumped. If you think this is scary, you may not have been on the Religion Forum before.

Howz about hooded men with swords wanting to slice your throat?

What say you.....got the guts to stand up against them like the enemies of "Mormonism"?

Question your own faith, not others.

Mormonism tries to highjacks Christianity. Its our very right to question it and label it as heresy.
