People around the world now have a new way to learn about Joseph Smith, the founder and first president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A film called Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration is now available online, marking the first time the Church has shared a full-length film on the Internet.
Well, said I, in answer, I would not like to take that position, because it would leave me with a lot of churches on my hands that I might not then be able to classify. So far as the Catholic church is concerned, I believe that there is just as much truth, nay, personally I believe it has retained even more truth than other divisions of so-called Christendom; and there is just as much virtue, and I am sure there is more strength in the Roman Catholic church than there is in Protestant Christendom.
I would not like, therefore, to designate the Catholic church as the church of the devil. Neither would I like to designate any one or all of the various divisions and subdivisions of Protestant Christendom combined as such church; nor the Greek Catholic church; nor the Buddhist sects; nor the followers of Confucius; nor the followers of Mohammed; nor would I like to designate even the societies formed by deists and atheists as constituting the church of the devil. The Book of Mormon text ought to be read in connection with its context with the chapter that precedes it and the remaining portions of the chapter in which it is found then, I think, those who study it in that manner will be forced to the conclusion that the Prophet here has in mind no particular church, no particular division of Christendom, but he has in mind, as just stated, the whole empire of Satan; and perhaps the thought of the passage would be more nearly expressed if we use the term the kingdom of evil as constituting the church of the devil.
(B. H. Roberts, Conference Report, April 1906, p.14, 15)
So BM, how do you resolve that statement with the statements of your early leaders that call Catholics (and other Christian groups) “Whores of Babylon”?

A very good friend of mine is an archaeologist and anthropologist, was curator of the LA Museum of Natural History for a decade, I asked him what he thought of this "powerful evidence", he nearly wet his pants laughing.
Your body will return to dust before you’d get an answer.
Thanks for posting!! I think we will watch it Monday night for Family Home Evening, since this weekend we will be too busy being indoctrinated by the General Authorities (as others on this website would call it!) at General Conference. Cant wait to hear the words of our Prophet!!
You are welcome! We also look forward to it!
Beware of FALSE prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing,
but inwardly they are RAVENING wolves ... For such are FALSE apostles,
DECEITFUL workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
Jesus Christ, Matthew 7:15, The Apostle Paul, II Corinthians 11:13
“Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the whore of Babylon’ whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. Any person who shall be so corrupt as to receive a holy ordinance of the Gospel from the ministers of any of these apostate churches will be sent down to hell with them, unless they repent.”
- Apostle Orson Pratt, The Seer, p. 255
The More Good Foundation publishes over 300 websites where persons of other faiths can learn about the Church and where individual Mormons can share their beliefs. We also provide training and support for Mormons interested in sharing their beliefs online.
How did the mormon church gain control of the website "Jesus Christ.org"...Quote: "Why dont Mormons wear crosses? Mormons dont wear the cross of Jesusthey carry it."
Another quote: "The Mormon Church distributes free copies of the King James Version of the Bible and the Book of Mormon. For your free copy of the Bible, go to Free Holy Bible and for a free Book of Mormon, go to Free Book of Mormon.
BUT...they don't tell you that your "Free" Bible will have to be delivered to your home by two mormon missionaries.
He should take more than a minute to answer the point. You should be reading what the ‘question’ was - it is not referring to Jesus being married (as your link woefully attempts to ‘answer’).
All he does is typical mormon apologetic - throw the guy under the bus.
The article admits that Pratt was a false teacher, teaching false doctrine. The question then becomes - why didn’t they remove him from his position as an Apostle?
Then again, your link’s objection is only valid IF what I cited wasn’t church doctrine to begin with. “containing” false doctrine is not the same as it is ALL false doctrine.
“Both Catholics and Protestants are nothing less than the whore of Babylon whom the Lord denounces by the mouth of John the Revelator as having corrupted all the earth by their fornications and wickedness. . . . . “
Is mormon doctrine saying that other Churches contain the fullness of the gospel as well? NO BM in all truth mormonism teaches just what Pratt stated.
Since your ‘link’ pointed out that Young didn’t like Pratt’s teaching - what did Young say in regards to this specific quote?????
“...The Christian religion was so perverted that the people received it with open hands, arms, mouth and heart. It was adulterated until it was congenial to the wicked heart, and they received the Gospel as they supposed. But that was the time they commenced little by little to transgress the laws, change the ordinances, and break the everlasting covenant, and the Gospel of the kingdom that Jesus undertook to establish in his day and the Priesthood were taken from the earth.” (5 John A. Widtsoe comp., Discourses of Brigham Young, (SLC: Deseret Book Co., 1954) 107).
Finally BM, lds inc. is careful NOT to rebuke Pratt’s work “the seer” Infact, the lds inc includes “the seer” as among “other important works “ he did.

So really BM, believe a website that is not authorized to speak for the church, or believe the church website that equates “The Seer” with other important apologetic works he wrote.
Mormons always tell me to look to lds inc.
Come on man, at least just post LDSish links like your buddy..
The Backyard BlueMoose Placemarker :-)
I’m a roman catholic too; maybe we should get started on who the one true church is.
I also watched the video-i felt the temptation of the evil one. the video is deceitful and does not give the wjole history.
LOL, great april fools article moose.
Smith in describing one version of his ‘first vision’ stated that the “professors were all corrupt”. Professors in 1830 verbage and use refer to the people, not the organizations. It has only been recently that mormons have tried to still say Christians were still Christian.
To go back to Smith again on this specific point he stated: “Third “Will everybody be damned, but Mormons?”
Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, compiled by Joseph Fielding Smith, page 119.)
Again, this is PEOPLE, not organizations being attacked. By smith’s definition - these ‘Christians’ (according to modern morg terms) are damned.
You lame apologist link also eviscerates the mormon doctrine of complete apostasy - for if there were ‘true’ Christians throughout time - then ANY alledged apostasy was never complete.
It is also too bad the link didn’t post the quotations - makes it easy to ‘debunk’ the charge if the charge isn’t present to be evaluated.
“Verily, verily, I say unto you, darkness covereth the earth, and gross darkness the minds of the people, and all flesh has become corrupt before my face” (Doctrine and Covenants, 112:23).
All flesh had become ‘corrupt’ - that deals with people and not organizations as the link tries to weasel word around.
Oh, an now the quotes from bring’em young in JoD are authorative? LOL
Please, don’t confuse yourself with facts moose. You citations of these lame NONAUTHORTATIVE personal opinions only show the lengths mormons will go to WANT the church to be true - rather than seeking the TRUTH.
