Excellent historical background, and well worth reading.

I also strongly recommend R J Rushdoony's excellent little book Foundations of Social Order. This study on the creeds and counsels of the early church demonstrates time after time the real-world consequences of doctrinal deviations. All that is good in Christendom flows from standard, orthodox, creedal Christianity. Heresies have always been attractive to tyrants.

Thanks for the recommendation and pinging people.

I haven’t actually read The Great Heresies myself, except for the section on Islam. I thought it would be nice to post it here and get the comments after each chapter. Almost like an online book club.
