This is the Christ of Mormonism:
1. He lives as a humanoid god on a star near Kolob along with his father god, bound by the physical world; he does not transcend the material.
2. He is the brother of satan.
3. He had to earn his own salvation while he was on earth.
4. He offers his “grace” only to those who work hard enough.
5. He is not from everlasting to everlasting, but was created a finite time ago by his father god, who in turn was also created by his own father god, who in turn was created by his own father god, so on and so forth
6. He is not the greatest being possible.
7. He is finite.
8. His blood is not powerful enough to wipe away any sin.
9. He aided his father in creating earth by organizing already existing matter; he is not capable of creating things out of nothing.
10. He must submit to a moral law that existed before he did.
11. You can one day become just like him.
This is the Christ of the Bible:
1. He is a spirit being that transcends space and time.
2. He is the brother of no creature; He is God, from everlasting to everlasting. No one can claim kinship with Him except those He purchased for Himself on the cross. And He is not the same type of creature they are. He is not a creature, He is God.
3. Jesus is the Author of Salvation; to say that He needed to earn His salvation is absurdity.
4. He offers His sovereign grace to whomever He sovereignly chooses; we are all tainted by sin and vile in His holy eyes. Therefore, no one is more worthy than any other human being. Thus, His grace that He offers is given unconditionally. His grace is true grace, a beautiful gift.
5. He is from everlasting to everlasting. He was never created, and Has been in relationship with the Father and the Holy Spirit forever.
6. He is the greatest being possible, the Most High God. There is no one like Him and there is no one who will ever be anything like Him.
7. He is infinite, both in essence and in His divine perfections.
8. His blood is powerful enough to wipe away any sin, regardless of heinousness and duration. The only sin that cannot be forgive is blasphemy against the Holy Ghost; and this is not because the blood of Christ is not powerful enough to wash it away, but because God has so sovereignly decreed that all persons who blaspheme the Holy Ghost should not receive forgiveness.
9. He created everything that exists out of nothing by the mere word of His mouth.
10. There is no external law that He submits to; He is the Author and the Source of the Law.
11. No one can ever come near to obtaining the glory and excellency of Christ.
Believes Jesus is in the godhead:
Mormonism: Yes
Christians: Yes
Believes that Jesus Christ is their lord and savior:
Mormonism: Yes
Christianity: Yes
Bottom line: Both are heretical. Both teach salvation apart from Hashem only (idolatry) Both teach division of the godhead. (heretical)

In 1997, the First Presidency of the Mormon Church and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles decided to publish a manual entitled: “Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Brigham Young.” This manual has generated a good deal of controversy. As noted above, Vern Anderson wrote an interesting article that demonstrated the church’s attempt to suppress information regarding Brigham Young’s plural wives.
Anderson reported that a young woman who had recently married a Mormon came to the home of Valeen Tippetts Avery, a noted Mormon writer, seeking to know why the new manual overlooked Brigham Young’s practice of polygamy. Vern Anderson wrote: “She was confused now, and someone had suggested she talk to Avery.
” ‘Dr. Avery,’ “ she said, ‘I just got the new Relief Society manual, which is about Brigham Young, and he only has one wife.’
“Avery, a Mormon who knew the pioneer leader had 55 wives, couldn’t explain why the lesson manual being used since January by male and female church members in 22 languages paints America’s most famous polygamist as a monogamist.
“But she had some advice.
” ‘The Mormon church is trying to say to the new people coming into the church, as well as to the larger American society, that there was nothing questionable in the Mormon past,’ Avery told the woman. ‘And if you want answers to these kinds of sticky questions, you’re not going to find them inside accepted Mormon manuals and doctrines’.
“The absence of any mention of polygamy is just one of the criticisms being leveled at the manual…
” ‘Whoever compiled the manual is extraordinarily embarrassed by the church’s second president,’ says Ron Priddis of Signature Books.
” ‘It’s a religious tract, not history,’ scoffs historian Nancy J. Taniguchi….
“Within months of assuming the church presidency in March 1995, Gordon B. Hinckley told the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles to begin updating the curriculum of the adult male priesthood quorums and the Relief Society, both of which had always been separate... Soon, a writing committee was formed, using Discourses of Brigham Young, a 1954 compilation of Young’s teachings by Apostle John A. Widtsoe, as the primary source for a new priesthood manual…
“Widtsoe’s work, narrowly windowed from the hundreds of Young speeches contained in the multivolume Journal of Discourses, had served to spruce up and sanitize the rough-and-ready frontier prophet for modern audiences. Widtsoe eliminated many of the cantankerous, contradictory, hyperbolic rantings for which Young was known…
“Polygamy, which church founder Joseph Smith secretly practiced… and which Young publicly championed, was dropped 13 years after his death… and appears nowhere in the Widtsoe index or the new manual.
“Also missing from the manual are Young’s theories that Adam was God the Father and that Eve was just one of God’s wives, the rest having been left on other worlds. Blood atonement was another casualty.
“Worse than a glaring lack of context, though, say critics who have closely compared statements in the manual of Young’s sermons, are the resulting misrepresentations of his ideas.
” ‘I’d say that about 10 percent of the quotes are overtly lifted out of context, with about another 10 percent that are more subtly altered. In addition, about 5 percent have been abbreviated to avoid offense regarding race, nationality, gender and so on,’ Priddis said.”

The "information" is largely slander ... ... Perhaps that information is true but "hurtful".

Just by way of exposition on "long walk, short pier"; truth and slander are mutually exclusive by definition. If something is true it cannot be slander. The two statements of jimt appear at first glance to be self-vitiating. Thus, long walk, short pier.
But maybe we have misunderstood jimt. Perhaps by that larger part of the information that jimt characterizes as false and defamatory, jimt is referring to a different category than the information that is true, but "hurtful".
Now if that's the casee then it shouldn't be too much of a problem or an undue burden for the one who has made an accusation of slander to give an actual example from this thread - out of that part of the information that is "largely slander".

According to Joey Smith the mormon god drove the mormons out of OH MO because of their sins...
D&C 98:18-19: “Behold...am not well pleased with many who are in the church at Kirtland; For they do not forsake their sins, and their wicked ways, the pride of their hearts, and their covetousness, and all their detestable things...”
D&C 50:4 — what Smith told the LDS church at Kirtland in May, 1831: “Behold...have looked upon you, and have seen abominations in the church that profess my name...”
“...the inhabitants of Zion are terrible...” (D&C 45:70)
Also, Smith said that the affliction, persecution and being cast out of the land of inheritance (D&C 101:1)
was because God “suffered the affliction to come upon them, wherewith they have been afflicted, in consequence of their transgressions...” (D&C 101:2)
