So this is how we fast totally. I think Christ was more talking about a reaction to an absolute wrong way of fasting or not fasting. Or true motive. Not something set in stone.

NOTE THIS IN THE VERSES:

Matthew 6:16 “When you fast, do not Look gloomy LIKE the hypocrites. They neglect their appearance, so that They May APPEAR to others to be fasting."

This verse is before Matthew 6:17 " But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, 18 that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."

This is the way you fast? How often is this? Perhaps you would like to share. Since you are pointing out that the Lenten fast is so wrong. You want to share as a christian. In all honesty we can learn from each other.

I though this was read at Mass yesterday; or so I've been told. BTW, mind reading is verbotten on the FR. Doing so puts this ecumenical thread at risk of becoming a flamewar.

***This is the way you fast? How often is this?***

Sorry, but if I choose to fast, or don’t, it between me and God.
