Hundreds of thousands of people leave mormonism each
year. Others stay mormon, but in name only. Most live
a life of desperation and gloom at the oppression they
face if they stay and the scorn they might face if they
leave.

Many mormons who are leaving the church have found great insight and comfort and been exposed to things the official links don’t cover.

Start here on your journey to personal and spiritual freedom.

From the article, Gordon Hinckley states: "It is clear from these and other writings that there are times and circumstances when nations are justified, in fact have an obligation, to fight for family, for liberty, and against tyranny, threat, and oppression.

Here is a great example of just where ONE mormon leader stands on "War and Peace".

Romney: My Sons Serve America by Getting Me Elected

Republican White House hopeful Mitt Romney reached new heights - or lows - of banality in Iowa on Wednesday. Romney defended his five sons' choices not to enlist in the military, claiming instead they serve their nation by "helping me get elected."

Mitt Romney, as you'll recall, avoided combat duty in the rice fields of Vietnam by getting multiple deferments to perform his Mormon mission in the vineyards of France. And while candidate Romney has called for a war against virtually all Muslim groups worldwide and pledged to "double Guantanamo," he has deployed his sons to the cornfields of Iowa to aid his campaign. The perfect hair and gleaming teeth of the Romney clan are found on the Five Brothers blog, not with a band of brothers outside of Baquba.

So on Wednesday, Rachel Griffiths of Milan, Illinois asked Romney about the non-service of his privileged sons, one of whom is completing a 99 county tour of Iowa in a campaign RV. Romney's answer was, well, Romneyesque;

"My sons are all adults and they've made decisions about their careers and they've chosen not to serve in the military and active duty and I respect their decision in that regard. "One of the ways my sons are showing support for our nation is helping me get elected because they think I'd be a great president. I respect that and respect all those and the way they serve this great country.?

Of the Romney family Mitt Romney, his sons, Romney's grandfather,  his father.... none served in the US military.

From the "talk that you call "very good and interesting"....

"To our brothers and sisters in harm’s way, we say that we pray for you. We pray that the Lord will watch over you and preserve you from injury and that you may return home and pick up your lives again. We know that you are not in that land of blowing sand and brutal heat because you enjoy the games of war. The strength of your commitment is measured by your willingness to give your very lives for that in which you believe.

This post by caww is "very good and interesting" and indicative of the mormon church's TRUE attitude toward Islam.

"President Packer said, “Church members and Muslims share similar high standards of decency, temperance and morality. … As societal morality and behavior decline in an increasingly permissive world, the church and many within Islam increasingly share natural affinities.”

Southern California Muslim leaders traveled to Salt Lake City as part of a delegation to visit Mormon leaders. The Mormon Church opened its doors to Muslims for the purpose of educating one another about their histories and traditions........ Muslim leaders from Salt Lake City also met with the Southern California delegation. A trip to BYU, about 40 minutes south of Salt Lake City, included a discussion with ....”college students studying Islam.”

This idea of prophecy and a line of prophets would be familiar to both Muslims and Mormons. The fact that Joseph Smith and Muhammad both were religious as well as political leaders is another similarity. Muslims and Mormons also share a strict moral certitude about right and wrong and ban substances like alcohol. This morality led one Salt Lake imam we interviewed to declare Utah the “best place in the United States for Muslims. It’s the best kept secret.

When the sun went down around 7:30, the... ‘Mormon men followed the Muslim men’.. into the front of the mosque’s carpeted prayer room to observe evening prayers.......

Mormon women, all of whom donned head scarves before entering the prayer room, sat behind the Muslim women... in the same room. The women were separated from the men by a sheer cloth which divided the room, a common practice meant to keep away distractions while prayers are being recited, a mosque member said.........”As a Latter-day Saint we’re very devoted, and it’s very obvious the Muslims have the same type of lifestyle and devotion,” said David Lewis of Ladera Ranch.

“In their way, with their rituals and their prayers, they have the devotion that we also have,” Lewis said. “That faith, or that belief, that takes you to action, that creates a desire to live a certain lifestyle...I think that’s what’s neat about being here and witnessing this."

Modern revelation gives additional light (see D&C 76:25–29), as does the book of Moses (see Moses 4:1–4), which tells of Satan’s plan to destroy the agency of man.
