At the tender age of fifteen your beauty first serenaded me. Your pretty blue eyes, delicate lips, and soft flowing hair together created such sweet harmonies. Your precious smile cast an irresistible melody to my young heart.
However, in the complacency of marriage your sweet song became muted to me. Selfish pride covered my ears. Indifference drowned out the melody that once made my heart dance.
Emptiness might have been our fate except for a beauty whose stanzas were not yet complete. Unnoticed to me at first, your outward beauty had been augmented. A kind word without cause. Honor though none was earned. Gentleness when none was due. Grace where resentment was justifiable. Each act of love added its voice to your angelic choir.
Subtly your beauty began its crescendo. The refrain that had been unnoticed for so long was now inescapable. Its triumphant anthem pierced the dark silence of a sullen heart. When at last hearing what my selfishness had kept from my ears, I was left with no alternative. With great delight my heart began to again dance to the singing of your sweet beauty.
December 9, 2010 marks fifteen years of our marriage. We have now reached the point where my time as your husband will exceed the time before your beauty first sang to me. Because of your unconditional love, immeasurable grace and infinite beauty I love you now far more than ever before.
