The "Prophecy" of Bella Dodd [the Communist Subversion of the Church]

The "Prophecy" of Bella Dodd by Christopher A. Ferrara

In light of the current confusion and moral scandal in the Church, it would be well to consider a neglected bit of recent Church history: the public testimony of Bella Dodd, who served as legal counsel to the Communist Party in the United States until her conversion to Catholicism, after which she spent the rest of her life atoning for her role in the communist infiltration of the Catholic Church.

An article in Christian Order magazine (November 2000) recounts how Dodd and her associate, Douglas Hyde, revealed the plan for communist subversion of the Church: Ex-Communist and celebrated convert Douglas Hyde revealed long ago that in the 1930s the Communist leadership issued a worldwide directive about infiltrating the Catholic Church. While in the early 1950s, Mrs. Bella Dodd was also providing detailed explanations of the Communist subversion of the Church. Speaking as a former high ranking official of the American Communist Party, Mrs. Dodd said: "In the 1930s we put eleven hundred men into the priesthood in order to destroy the Church from within." The idea was for these men to be ordained and progress to positions of influence and authority as Monsignors and Bishops. A dozen years before Vatican II she stated that: "Right now they are in the highest places in the Church" — where they were working to bring about change in order to weaken the Church's effectiveness against Communism. She also said that these changes would be so drastic that "you will not recognise the Catholic Church." Dodd gave voluminous testimony on communist infiltration of Church and state before the House UnAmerican Activities Committee in the 1950s. In a lecture at Fordham University during that time, Dodd unveiled what would seem to be an uncanny prophecy of future chaos in the Church. The lecture was attended by a monk whose account of the talk is presented in Christian Order:

I listened to that woman for four hours and she had my hair standing on end. Everything she said has been fulfilled to the letter. You would think she was the world's greatest prophet, but she was no prophet. She was merely exposing the step-by-step battle plan of Communist subversion of the Catholic Church. She explained that of all the world's religions, the Catholic Church was the only one feared by the Communists, for it was its only effective opponent. The whole idea was to destroy, not the institution of the Church, but rather the Faith of the people, and even use the institution of the Church, if possible, to destroy the Faith through the promotion of a pseudo-religion: something that resembled Catholicism but was not the real thing. Once the Faith was destroyed, she explained that there would be a guilt complex introduced into the Church…. to label the ‘Church of the past’ as being oppressive, authoritarian, full of prejudices, arrogant in claiming to be the sole possessor of truth, and responsible for the divisions of religious bodies throughout the centuries. This would be necessary in order to shame Church leaders into an ‘openness to the world,’ and to a more flexible attitude toward all religions and philosophies. The Communists would then exploit this openness in order to undermine the Church. Does any of this sound familiar? Unless you have been comatose since Vatican II, you would be aware that Bella Dodd was describing the state of the Catholic Church today. Today, post-conciliar churchmen wallow in guilt over the Church’s "intolerant" past, make public apologies for the sins of dead Catholics (but not their own sins against the living faithful, including the victims of the homo-priest cover-up), and extol the virtues of other religions, thereby de facto abandoning the defined dogma that there is no salvation outside the Church.

Bella Dodd was no prophet. She merely told us what the infiltrators of the Church were planning to do. And lo, they have done it.

LIBERATION THEOLOGY,

JOSE DIAZ-BALART, TELEMUNDO NETWORK:

"Liberation theology in Nicaragua in the mid-1980's was a pro-Sandinista, pro-Marxist, anti-U.S., anti-Catholic Church movement. That's it. No ifs, ands, or buts. His church apparently supported, in the mid-'80s in Nicaragua, groups that supported the Sandinista dictatorships and that were opposed to the Contras whose reason for being was calling for elections. That's all I know. I was there.

I saw the churches in Nicaragua that he spoke of, and the churches were churches that talked about the need for violent revolution and I remember clearly one of the major churches in Managua where the Jesus Christ on the altar was not Jesus Christ, he was a Sandinista soldier, and the priests talked about the corruption of the West, talked about the need for revolution everywhere, and talked about 'the evil empire' which was the United States of America."

From : Anti-Communist Archbishop Marcel Levevbre's 1981 Triumphant Reception in Mexico

1981

During an early year visit to the States, Archbishop Lefebvre dedicates the complex of Jesus and Mary in El Paso, Texas. In the afternoon of January 4, 200 children are confirmed. On January 6, four years after a visa had been denied to Archbishop Lefebvre due to pressure put on the government by the bishops of Mexico, our founder crosses the border for what turns out to be a triumphant tour of the country of the Cristeros [see The Angelus, Dec. 1993-Ed.].Followed continuously by the Mexican secret police, the Archbishop visits in the south of the country large areas of very poor Indians who, astonished, received an affirmative answer to their request for a truly Catholic bishop coming to support their fight for the Faith before the Communist clergy, sold to Liberation Theology. He is received like a conquering hero, walking among cheering crowds of thousands in villages festooned with ribbons, garlands, and the magnificent fragrant flowers of those latitudes. Some natives walk as much as 100 miles through mountains to bring their children to be confirmed and to be able to kiss the episcopal ring and receive the blessing of Marcel Lefebvre, "el hombre justo."(the just man). In Tlaxiaco, while the local diocesan bishop celebrates the New Mass for 25 people, thousands attend the solemn ceremonies presided by Archbishop Lefebvre.

---------------------------------------------------

ST. VINCENT OF LERINS (400-450 AD) CONFESSOR OF THE CHURCH

"What then should a Catholic do if some part of the Church were to separate itself from communion with the universal Faith? What other choice can he make but to prefer to the gangrenous and corrupted member the whole of the body that is sound. And if some new contagion were to try to poison no longer a small part of the Church, but all of the Church at the same time, then he will take the greatest care to attach himself to antiquity which, obviously, can no longer be seduced by any lying novelty." From: Progressivist Bishops Hijack Vatican II

Vatican II

We will take a quick look at an episode that demonstrates Modernism at work at the Second Vatican Council, and Modernism at work in those Churchmen for whom Vatican II is new center of the universe.

As is well-known, Pope John XXIII established a Central Preparatory Committee prior to the Council. This Committee spent two years preparing the schemas for the Council. These were to be the main drafts the bishops would discuss once Vatican II opened.

These first drafts were in splendid accord with the traditional teaching of the Church. Cardinal Ottaviani of the Holy Office oversaw the drafting of the documents, and the work was carried out with great care. If these documents had been followed at the Council, the discussions of the bishops and theologians would have been forced to proceed along traditional lines.

Of the original schemas on Vatican II, Archbishop Maracel Lefebvre said:

“I was nominated a member of the Central Preparatory Commission by the Pope and I took an assiduous and enthusiastic part in its two years of work. The central Commission had the responsibility of checking and examining all the preparatory schemas which came from the specialist commissions … This work was carried out very conscientiously and meticulously. I still possess the seventy-two preparatory schemas; in them the Church’s doctrine is absolutely orthodox. They were adapted in a certain manner to our times, but with great moderation and discretion.”37

As is also well known, however, immediately after the Council opened, the liberal bishops from the Rhineland countries protested against the original documents. They complained that they had no input in them, and put forward other specious objections. The entire matter was put to a vote, and the documents that had been two years in preparation were scrapped.

Archbishop Lefebvre recalls,

“Everything was ready for the date announced and on 11th October, 1962, the Fathers took their places in the nave of St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome. But then an occurrence took place which had not been foreseen by the Holy See. From the very first days, the Council was besieged by the progressive forces … fifteen days after the opening sessions not one of the seventy-two schemas remained. All had been sent back, rejected, thrown into the wastepaper basket.”38

This scrapping of the Council’s agenda left 2500 bishops in Rome with nothing to talk about. The original agenda had been trashed. The bishops then relied on the liberal theologians at the Council to draft new documents in order to steer the Council away from a traditional framework, and towards a more progressive, ecumenical orientation.39

Well, I think this is disappointing to learn that there were 1100 “plants” into the priesthood, and then not have anything that says who any of them were. Name some names, or it falls short of credibility.

Falls short of credibility? Oy. That’s like saying that you don’t believe you’re eating steak if you dont know who cooked it. i.e. the proof is in the pudding.

Here's another winner: Wherever there is Communism there is persecution ... of Catholics by Catholic collaborators!

Worth noting, even though the article doesn't deal with the US because it apparently hasnt become obvious enough that Pelosi, Sebelius, Biden, et all are persecuting Catholics and that Communism has come to the United States government.

You forgot to note that Marcel LeFebvre died as an excommunicated revolutionary against legitimate Church authority, a master of blatant disobedience and contempt for the papacy and for the about to be beatified (5/1/11) Pope John Paul II particularly. There are some well-meaning but gullible people who actually believe the schismatic drivel of SSPX and somehow confuse blatant contempt for Church authority for what they hallucinate to be “tradition.” What they should avoid is confusing SSPX with actual Catholicism. Lucifer and Marcel shared the motto: Non Serviam. Fr, Gruner has a lesser but also non-admirable track record of gross disobedience to legitimate Church authority. In what diocese does he claim to be incardinated and what is his status. Last I heard, he had refused his obedience to two dioceses in which he had been incardinated (one in Canada? and one in Italy) because, like the excommunicated Marcel, Gruner just knows better than his superiors what he should be doing as a priest. No mere parish duty or humiliating obedience for Fr. Gruner, vows or no vows. He’s right, the Church is wrong. Full speed ahead! At least, according to Fr, Gruner and other revolutionaries against legitimate Church authority.

re: You forgot to note that...

This thread is about infiltration into the Church by communists with the intent of destroying the Church from WITHIN.

BY THEIR DEEDS YOU SHALL KNOW THEM, the wolves in sheep's clothing, are the infiltrators, that is: "those that detached themselves from antiquity and were seduced by lying novelty," that is, the progressivists, the expounders of liberation theology, the effeminates, the "change everything" revolutionaries, and innovators, the expounders of lying novelties.

Archbishop Lefevbre appointed by Pope John XXIII a member of the Central Preparatory Commission for VatII, the Committee spent two years preparing the schemas for the Council(all scrapped by the progressivsts. See my posting #8). Abp. Lefevbre attended Vatican II as the Apostolic Delegate for West Africa and Superior General of the Holy Ghost Fathers, he took a leading part in a study group of conservative bishops at the Council which became known as the Coetus Internationalis Patrum. That group opposed the progressivists at Vatican II. Abp. Lefevbre took the greatest care to attach himself to "antiquity which, obviously, can no longer be seduced by any lying novelty." He was an anti-communist, anti- liberation theology, anti- everything that is opposed to what the church has always taught. BY THEIR DEEDS YOU SHALL KNOW THEM.

Those that have eyes to see let them see.
