Lately, there seems to be a lot of conflict on the religion forum. Much of this has been between Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox. To show that we are all united as Christians and to reduce animosity, I hope we can all agree to one of 4 following statements:
1) I am Catholic. I love Orthodox and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
2) I am Protestant. I love Orthodox and Catholic Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Catholics to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
3) I am an Orthodox Christian. I love Catholic and Protestant Christians. I consider Catholics and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
4) I am a non-believer. I love Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians, Catholics, and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.
I feel confident that most freepers agree to at least one of these statements, even if they do not say so.
If you agree with any of these statements, please feel free to say so.
Thanks!
Well, I always admire your stamina, I am Protestant but to become such a lightening Rod, I have not the desire nor need. We have discussed it before.
God’s blessings.
Thank you for being reasonable in on this thread.
I do have to disagree about not believing in God and being uncomfortable.
For example, the Middle Ages were a very tough time, especially compared to today. However, it was also an age of great faith, too.
Also, when early Christians were being persecuted, their persecution did not stop them from believing.
Dunno where they would be for you - Your calling may be different than mine... But for me, He is found in the Spirit. And while I have had my own passage of "night," even in the midst of my own "uncomfortableness," it is that Indwelling that fills me up, and makes it all OK.
A lack of comfort is a temporary thing, even when it lasts for years... It is the Spirit which goes on. A dearly departed FReeper taught that to me, in the midst of my own troubles.
Thx thx.
Then you likely know I don’t at all consider myself one size fits all.
Middle Ages were difficult, true. Life under Communism was difficult too. Just two examples. A Catholic writer who lived under Communism, name unimportant, wrote in his diary that I read recently, that he would rather live under Communism in a happy marriage, than in a free country under an unhappy one. It is something I can understand. You can live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, as I do, and feel (for a good reason) to be the unhappiest man in the world. And conversely, you could live happily during the Middle Ages. And believe then. Or you can have a view of a wonder of the world outside your window now during this wonderful century, and doubt.
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
AMEN!
Add the Adventists to that criteria as well.
Have a blessed and peaceful Lent.
My prayers are to our Saviour to remove our anger and fear.
May He replace them with compassion and faith.
As we leave these hurtful threads.
Rom. 8:17
Now if we are children, then we are heirsheirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
His Glory, not ours. We do not become gods. That is a satanic idea. God deserves all glory not us.
1 John 3:2
2 Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears,[a] we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.
We will be like him in spirit, not of flesh and bone. A big stretch to think we will become gods. Nowhere in the bible does it say will be become gods, become gods of a planet and have celestial babies. No other Christian denominations believes that either.
Paul warned us of false prophets.
Galatians 1:6-9
No Other Gospel
6. I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under Gods curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under Gods curse!
Joseph Smith created a different gospel. For that reason, he is cursed in hell.
Put away the false teachings of Joseph Smith and get to know the real Jesus of the bible.
This could lead to a very interesting discussion on the nature of happiness.
If you are having trouble in your life, may God bless you and take away your troubles.
Every time recently when I feel despair and am out and about, I see somebody who's apparently in a worse shape, a blind man, a cripple, a homeless. And as often as not that person is WITH somebody, while I am forever, alone. Hitler (forgive the reference), it occurred to me yesterday, had someone, as have had all the history's monsters. Your God allows it. Try being a stray dog.
They do not believe in the Trinity, they believe that you can lose your salvation which means they believe you can work to your salvation. They are not Christian
I miss marysecretary. If folks had any idea what she was going through... but one could never tell from her cheerful through fiery postings... never a complaint, to my knowledge.
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
Adventists believe Jesus was and is the angel Michael. That is not christian. oneness pentecostals believe that or that Jesus was a man who became God, they are non Christians
Mormons, Oneness Pentecostals, Jehovah’s witnesses, Adventists, ECUSA, PCUSA and all those kind are definitely not Christian.
You’re a good man (woman?) trying to do good here on this forum, and I for one appreciate that. But it is what it is, and if the religious thread troublemakers haven’t been banned, that’s the proprietor’s choice. We have to live with it, and best to avoid those anti-Catholic, anti-Mormon threads which in the end lead to nowhere. The anti-Catholics have not converted a single person, you can be sure of that, and neither have the Mormons. I only wish I had their problems in life.
If you die and become a "god", would Jesus still be your Lord and savior?
If you become a 'god' wouldn't that put you on a equal level as Jesus?
If you become on equal status with Jesus, would you still worship him?
And when you become a "god" will you want to be worshipped?
The whole idea that you could somehow trump the Son of God is something the devil would want to you to believe.
True.
The God of The Bible I know
is looking for Biblical ‘excuse’ to save people
not Biblical ‘excuse’ to damn them.
