I don’t feel the need to do so.

Why are you so against a thread asking for Christian behavior?

What I am trying to do is figure out what it is exactly you are talking about as non Christian civility and what you think Christian behavior should be.

“There is a difference between debate and what is going on in the religion forum...”

I tend to agree. The paradym for a “town hall” meeting is —pretty exclusively—for political issues, and even then, there is usually someone sitting in a position of moderator to keep the “civil” exchanges civil.

However, IMHO, theological debates would be better defined as authentic debates if there are reasonable efforts to actually debate, and in a way that reflects one committed to spiritual values.

Lobbing cyberspace tomatoes and rocks over the walls at one another doesn’t look like the best atmosphere for authentic debate.

Then there’s the very real disadvantage of not actually seeing your “opponent” face-to-face and seeing his/her style of communicating, visually and vocally. So, what happens is that person the behind the screen name is anonymous. Because of this, each person can feel quite free to give whatever value they deign to give to the poster they are contending with. There is sort of a disconnect with reality here, and I personally think it has certain negative influences on one’s spirituality.

Scripturally, it’s actually better to meet and discuss with each other face to face.

Even though it’s true that much time these days we live in the cyberspace world of communication, that one-on-one contact still has extraordinary value.

This thread smacks of Mitt Romney advance work, trying to squelch Christian objection to Romney’s LDS cult religion which claims to THE most correct form of Christianity. The n00b ‘might’ be working for the Mittster, manipulating Freepers ...

The question is ...will those that never have heard of Christ be saved.. that was what I was addressing...you indicated they would.. I asked why then did jesus send people out to give the gospel if it is not necesary to be saved?

And more than that ..would not preaching the gospel to those that would reject it damn them? Where if no one told them hey would be saved?

There is a bigger enemy.
“Defeating” the listed issues is nothing but playing whack-a-mole. Our advisory will respond with other challenges to the church. If Christians put as much effort into spreading the Gospel all the other issues would go away.

Wanna lower the abortion rate?
We can spend a lot of time getting the right politicians elected and protesting (which hasn’t helped one bit) or we can do what Jesus commanded, make disciples. When we do that, the abortion rate will bottom out.

Wanna take care of Muslims?
Preach the Gospel to them. Problem is, many Christians will lose their heads and we will see that as a sign of failure. We will get outraged. That, however is how Christianity spread from the beginning. The blood of martyrs brings converts.

We have the right message. We leave in in our back pocket and lean on our own understanding.

Are you one who plans to NOT donate to FR since I'm quite sure JR won't change things to suit you? Quite a few of the whiners have tried that ploy to get their way...it didn't work.

So you want to decide what is a reasonable and civil debate, ok then do so. It also appears that in addition you want to define where and by what means the debate is held. If that's how you swing, then go for it. If the religion forums bothers you don't participate or perhaps start your own web sight.

A bunch of those Romney hacks bit the dust the last time they tried it.

I’m not deciding anything. I’m not defining where and by what means the debate is held.

I’m simply commenting. Something that everyone else on this forum does. Including you.

Did I say the forum bothers me?

Of course I comment, that’s what the forum is for.
You are correct you did not use the word “complaining”.

I have to agree since I asked WPaCon if she/he considers Mormons to be Christian. I haven't gotten a response.

Do you believe we are heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ? (Rom. 8:17)

Heirs of what?

Do you believe that we are sons of God, and that when he appears we shall be like him? (1 John 3:2)?

Do you believe that those that overcome will sit with God in His throne? (Rev. 3:21)

It’s not how Christian decency sounds, though.

Luke 3:7
John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

There is a difference between debate and what is going on in the religion forum, which includes blasphemy.

It is a bit hard to be 'decent' when pointing out MORMON heresy.

The TBM's get all huffy about it.

Jesus would never act the way some people do on the religion forum.

You CANNOT say 'some' people and get away with it.

If you've a problem with 'some' people; be specific and call THEM on it.

Do not take the wide brush and swab is all.

There you go again!

Identifying the TECHNIQUE we see in 'some' people.

Mostly MORMONs!

So are you using these passages to justify your belief that you will become a god when you die?
