Christian Unity on Free Republic [Vanity]
WPaCon | March 5, 2011 | WPaCon

Posted on 03/05/2011 5:29:44 AM PST by WPaCon

Lately, there seems to be a lot of conflict on the religion forum. Much of this has been between Catholics, Protestants, and Orthodox. To show that we are all united as Christians and to reduce animosity, I hope we can all agree to one of 4 following statements:

1) I am Catholic. I love Orthodox and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

2) I am Protestant. I love Orthodox and Catholic Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians and Catholics to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

3) I am an Orthodox Christian. I love Catholic and Protestant Christians. I consider Catholics and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

4) I am a non-believer. I love Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant Christians. I consider Orthodox Christians, Catholics, and Protestants to definitely be Christian. All Christians need to work together to defeat our common enemies-- specifically Islam, liberal postmodernism, and totalitarian communism.

I feel confident that most freepers agree to at least one of these statements, even if they do not say so.

If you agree with any of these statements, please feel free to say so.

Thanks!

I’m merely suggesting that Christians remember that they are allies and that they actually act like Christians.

Just what we need, a n00b's very first post on the RF touting the political correctness of the liberals.

52,000 mormon missionaries are knocking on Christians' doors 24/7 and they are carrying the message that salvation can ONLY come with membership in the mormon church. This is hardly the act of an "ally".

Some of us are not inclined to sing "Kumbaya" while Christ's Church is being demeaned.

What is YOUR denomination, WPaCon?

Nevertheless, the truth remains that Joseph Smith has deceived many away from biblical Christianity. There can be no “Christian unity” between Christians and those who follow the false teachings of Joseph Smith et al.

I’m not being divisive; I’m simply identifying existing, insurmountable division.

Well put.

“... as long as the denomination teaches the basic fundamentals of Christianity ...” I can see your point! Unfortunately, Mormonism is antithetical to the basic tenets of Christianity, starting with their assertion that the god of Mormonism, living as a man (not Jesus, a previous man) had to earn the attributes of godhood and be appointed by a council of gods to rule over earth.

Any religion that says you will become a god in the next life is satanic and Christians should stay away from that.

Any religion that says you will become a god in the afterlife is not Christanity. Only Satan would promote such a religion that would let people believe that they will become greater than God. Wise up.

I agree with #5:

5) I am a Christian. I’ve received the gift of salvation, provided through the grace of God, by faith and apart from any of my own efforts. I love all members of the Body of Christ - the Bride God has called out for His Son - regardless of which particular church denomination they hail from. I realize that it isn’t a denomination, rite or statement of faith that places someone into the Body of Christ. Each group or denomination has tares that grow up alongside of the wheat. God will sort all that out in His time. As such, I consider all who have received His gracious gift to definitely be Christians. I believe in unity in the essentials and freedom in non-essentials.

Where I can work together with any conservative, I do. To the degree I can stand shoulder to shoulder with a fellow conservative over moral and political issues for the greater good, I do. This does not mean I place conservative politics above my commitment to Christ. I do not pretend heresy is Christian for the sake of getting along. I do not accept cults as Christian, for the sake of getting along.

“What does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, but loses his soul?”

Yes, I like #5

The world is not agnostic and so religion will always play a part of politics.

What is Christian decency? Are you the decency police? Do we subscribe to what you believe is proper Christian behavior?
Religious/theological debate is raucous. It is the nature of debate. If you are uncomfortable defending what you believe, it is probably better not to get involved in the discussion.
Jesus called people out, Paul called people out, John the Baptist really called people out, if your feeling is that to be all touchy feely then go ahead, I intend to call people out when blapshmin my God.

The original poster was talking about those on FreeRepublic and I responded accordingly. If you want to start a thread about the conditions in the world maybe a new thread would be in order.

Do you believe that you will become a god in the next life or have your family together as a “forever family”? If you do, that is not Christianity. If you believe that you will go on to be a “god” in the next life, that is satanic.

“What is Christian decency?”

I’d say it’s something like trying to act like Jesus would.

“Are you the decency police?”

I was suggesting Christian charity and decency. How does that make me the decency police? Does suggesting homosexual people stop committing sodomy make someone the sodomy police?

“Religious/theological debate is raucous. It is the nature of debate. If you are uncomfortable defending what you believe, it is probably better not to get involved in the discussion.

There is a difference between debate and what is going on in the religion forum, which includes blasphemy.

Would that be the Jesus that drove out money changers? Or the Jesus who publicly called the Pharisees out?
Where in your opinion does the blasphamy come from?

(Good deflection on the decency police and homosexuality equation.)

John 13:34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Religious people stink this place up.
That is the problem. It is our flesh condition and it ain't gonna change.

Jesus would never act the way some people do on the religion forum. People lie, denigrate others, and blaspheme. You’ll just have to visit some of the garbage threads to see it.

“(Good deflection on the decency police and homosexuality equation.)”

No, it was a very pertinent question.

You keep making the charge about blaspheme, now have added lying and denigration to the mix..... provide examples of what you are talking about.
