My diocese says that, too, but it's not true. The diocesan share of Operation Rice Bowl collections can go to anything at all. Buy food and donate it directly to the food pantry, if you want to help the hungry locally, or contribute to your parish's fund for parishioners in need.

I agree with you.

And I have come to a point at which I steadfastly refuse to contribute to anything “diocesan” or “bishops”.
