Reflections for Sexagesima Sunday

Abbe Dom Prosper Gueranger The Church offers to our consideration, during this week of Sexagesima, the history of Noah and the deluge. Man has not profited by the warnings already given him. God is obliged to punish him once more, and by terrible chastisement. There is found out of the whole human race one just man; God makes a covenant with him, and with us through him. But, before He draws up this new alliance, He would show that He is the sovereign Master, and that man, and the earth whereon he lives, subsist solely by His power and permission.
At Rome the Station is in the basilica of Blessed Apostle Saint Paul outside the walls. It is around the tomb of the Doctor of the Gentiles, the zealous sower of the divine seed, the father by his preaching of so many nations, that the Roman Church assembles her children on this Sunday, whereon she is about to announce to them how God spared the earth on the condition that it should be peopled with true believers and with faithful adorers of His name.
Saint Gregory the Great justly remarks, that this parable needs no explanation, since eternal Wisdom Himself has told us its meaning. All that we have to do, is to profit by this divine teaching, and become the good soil, wherein the heavenly seed may yield a rich harvest. How often have we, hitherto, allowed it to be trampled on by them that passed by, or to be torn up by the birds of the air! How often has it found our heart like a stone, that could give no moisture, or like a thorn plot, that could but choke! We listened to the word of God; we took pleasure in hearing it; and from this we argued well for ourselves. Nay, we have often received this word with joy and eagerness. Sometimes, even, it took root within us. But, alas! Something always came to stop its growth. Henceforth, it must both grow and yield fruit. The seed given to us is of such quality, that the divine Sower has a right to expect a hundred-fold. If the soil, that is, our heart, be good; if we take the trouble to prepare it, by profiting by the means afforded us by the Church; we shall have an abundant harvest to show our Lord on that grand day, when rising triumphant from His tomb, He will come to share with His faithful people the glory of His Resurrection.
On these Sundays the Gloria in excelsis and Alleluia are omitted, except when the Mass of a Feast is said, and purple vestments are used.
Certain perverse teachers of Judazing tendency were endangering the very existence of the Corinthian Church. By comparing his own ministry with theirs, Blessed Apostle Saint Paul destroys the influence of these false prophets, who were entangling God's people in a spiritual bondage. But the Apostle ends this self-praise with an act of humility by which he shows that he glorifies himself only in Christ Jesus. We may say of the Apostle, as the Gospel does of our Lord, that he passed by scattering the seed of truth.

The Medium and the Message
There can be no fruit from the conciliar church, especially as it aligns itself with a heretical organization such as the World Council of Churches which seeks to please man and his own beliefs while claiming to be Christian in patronizing God in a humanistic, ecumaniacal way. The betrayal of Christ's Mystical Body continues full force as the Judases have siezed what is rightfully God's and have contradicted all His Mystical Bride proclaimed for nearly 2000 years. The message has been altered to suit the medium, and mammon has won out.

Editor's Note: In Father Louis Campbell's sermon for Sexagesima Sunday, he points out that the actions being taken by the conciliar church, most notably Benedict XVI and one of his leading heretics Walter Kasper, are the very example of what Our Lord speaks of in today's Gospel wherein "the devil cometh and taketh the word out of their heart" for that is what has happened to the hierarchy and subsequently those who have blindly followed them toward perdition over the past 40 plus years. They have abandoned the good seed and fertile ground because they have forsaken the roots of the Truths and Traditions of Holy Mother Church. They have fallen by the wayside and taken up with those sects founded by men who were apostates, including all the Protestant heretics whose leaders are encamped in the hopeless World Council of Churches to which Ratzinger and Kasper have given their blessings because, as Jesus affirms in Luke 8, they "are choked with the cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and yield no fruit." Father documents this very fact by showing that the words and actions are a direct contradiction to what Holy Mother Church has always taught and so clearly defined by Pope Pius XI in his encyclical condemning false ecumenism which is what the WWC is. In fact, their new logo embodies the subliminal spirit of satan with the form of a snake at the bottom of a letter that depicts a 'Z'. What could the Z stand for but for Zionism for the Masonic Zionist agenda has been fully embraced as the message of the newchurch. Blessed be the Holy Name of Jesus, now and for all eternity. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost.
"The sower went out to sow his seed," Jesus says in today's Gospel ( Blessed Apostle Saint Luke 8:5 ). And He explains to His disciples that the seed is the word of God, which must take root in men's hearts through faith. The Lord commanded His Apostles: "Go into the whole world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who does not believe shall be condemned." ( Blessed Apostle Saint Mark 16:16 ). The Church is sent to preach the Gospel. She teaches in obedience to the command of Christ, and by His authority. But the devil takes away the word from men's hearts. How does he do it? Let us observe!
For close to two millennia the Church, desiring that all men be saved, took Christ at His word, sending forth evangelists, preaching the Gospel of salvation, demanding faith of her hearers, and baptizing those who believed. That is, until Vatican II, which initiated forty years of "fruitful collaboration" with the religions of this world, including the heretical Protestant sects.
At Vatican II the Protestant sects were dignified with the title, "the churches". Since that time the Catholic Church has become, not just another "church" among the "churches", but even another "faith" among the "faiths" - the various world religions - which are judged as "authentic" and treated as a comparitive equal to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ. The Catholic mind has been changed. The tendency towards this way of thinking was already deplored by the English Catholic poet and historian, Hilaire Belloc, who died in 1953:

The fiction that the Catholic Church is a sect," he wrote, "like any of the various bodies around it in nations of Protestant culture, that She is a sect, like the Mormons, or the Baptists, or the Quakers, is nourished by a score of conventions; by that false phrase 'the Churches'; by the offensive adjunct, 'Roman' - as though the Faith were but one fashion in a hundred Catholicisms, or as if Catholicism were a thing split into numerous factions
Yet the falsehood is so firmly fixed and so long established here that it has recently begun to affect the Catholic body itself. The position is half accepted by them, though in their hearts they know it is a lie. For the line of cleavage does not fall between the various groups, Catholic, Agnostic, Evangelical, or what not, but between the Catholic Church and all else. She is unique, and at issue with the world" ( The Point, August, 1958 ).
The World Council of Churches, founded in 1948 in Amsterdam, is the largest ecumenical organization in the world, comprising at present 300 denominations with a membership of 400 million people. Tolerant of all theological points of view, its policy is that "Ecumenism exists by holding contradictions together." Prior to the "conciliar popes" and Vatican II, Catholics were forbidden to have anything to do with the WCC or any similar organization. Pope Pius XI in his encyclical Mortalium Animos ( 6 January 1928 ) expressed the Catholic viewpoint:

"Now, such efforts can meet with no kind of approval among Catholics. They presuppose the erroneous view that all religions are more or less good and praiseworthy, inasmuch as all give expression, under various forms, to that innate sense which leads men to God and to the obedient acknowledgment of His rule... to favor this opinion, therefore, and to encourage such undertakings, is tantamount to abandoning the religion revealed by God
This being so, it is clear that the Apostolic See can by no means take part in these assemblies, nor is it in any way lawful for Catholics to give to such enterprises their encouragement or support. If they did so, they would be giving countenance to a false Christianity quite alien to the one Church of Jesus Christ."
The Apostolic See can by no means take part in these assemblies? On Thursday, June 16, 2005, Benedict XVI gave a warm greeting at the Vatican to the 'Rev.' Samuel Kobia, the new General Secretary of the World Council of Churches, even as he denied Catholic unity, declaring: "The commitment of the Catholic Church to the search for Christian unity is irreversible." On the occasion of the recent General Assembly of the WCC, Benedict sent the following message through Cardinal Walter Kasper, president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity:

"Mindful of our shared baptismal faith in the Triune God, the Catholic Church and the World Council of Churches seek ways to cooperate ever more effectively in the task of witnessing to God's divine love. After forty years of fruitful collaboration, we look forward to continuing this journey of hope and promise, as we intensify our endeavors towards reaching that day when Christians are united in proclaiming the Gospel message of salvation to all
Assuring you of my spiritual closeness and reaffirming the Catholic Church's intention to continue a solid partnership with the World Council of Churches in its important contribution to the ecumenical movement, I invoke God's abundant blessings of peace and joy upon all of you" ( Zenit.org, Feb. 14, 2006 ).
Well, if "the medium is the message," as said Marshall McLuhan, then we should take a good look also at the theology of the "medium," Walter Cardinal Kasper, to whom the message was entrusted by Benedict.

Do men like this represent God and His holy Church, or is not the devil at work stealing the seed of the word from the hearts of millions of unwary Catholics, through the treachery of Vatican wolves in sheep's clothing? "Watch and pray," says the Lord, "that you may not enter into temptation" ( Blessed Apostle Saint Matthew 26:41 ).
Lord, preserve in us the seed of the word You have planted through Your holy Gospel, that we may persevere in the true faith until You come. Amen!
