Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.
“Do not make the thread “about” an individual Freeper. That is also a form of “making it personal.”
Discuss the issues all you want, but do not make it personal.”
Is it ok if I say good things about others?
That’s a nasty accusation.
Is there a way to select every Forum except religion
when using the Browse by Forum function?
Not at this time. You can each of them separately though, e.g. News/Activism, Chat, Religion Forum.
Yes unless the comment can be taken as sarcastic.
Pity, thanks for the reply.
“Yes unless the comment can be taken as sarcastic.”
Ok, I’ll be more careful in the future. However, in my defense, wouldn’t it be mind-reading to assume my post is sarcastic. I guess that can happen when readers ignore the plain meaning of my comments, and come up with their own private interpretations of my comments.
The object in any case is to discourage flame wars and keep the thread on the issues.
The evil one works in the black hearts of man.
Well, I would imagine that alex is still moderating. So, what do you expect?
BTW, did some Moderator post under his real name today also?
Funny stuff.
“Protestants have been covered by Ishtars dress????”
Does that mean they are the object of the next REAL Crusade?
Meh, God will sort it out.
You noticed that we were so outraged by the California priest’s behavior that we rushed to post it and vent at him — well, no, you had to post it, didn’t you?
Oh, I get it.
You think that if the bishop tolerates priests with disobedience, heresy and illicit liturgies, then he’ll have a much easier time cracking down on the homosexuals?
Wait, that doesn’t make any sense either.
Try this one on for size: The behavior that horrified and shocked American Catholics is endorsed as healthy sexual exploration by the denomination that represents the whopping majority of Calvinists in America. So to keep our denomination from becoming like that, we don’t like to see our priests proclaim the heresy of indifferentism (”we can all celebrate the eucharist together, because morality and the real presence don’t matter, as long as we love each other.”)
If priests are defiant in public, what hope have we to keep their private lives from disorder?
Welcome to FR! I’m a western PA conservative myself, from Pittsburgh!
Oh it is not...These men ARE your church...Your religion does not resemble any New Testament church in the scriptures...It was created and developed over centuries by men...The same men spoken of in this article...
These type of posts are meant to try to do to honorable Catholics what honest debate cannot, and that is to cast doubt on their faith.
Honest debate always puts your religion is a true light, or darkness...I assume that's why Catholics are instructed not to debate your religion...
It is in the best interest of your eternal soul to have doubts about your religion...
Thank you! Im from very close to Pittsburgh, too.
As opposed to yours, which was created and developed over the last century by men, and doesn't resemble any Christian church that existed 200 years ago, to say nothing of any that existed in NT times.
I assume that's why Catholics are instructed not to debate your religion.
Why don't you post a link to that so-called "instruction"?
It is in the best interest of your eternal soul to have doubts about your religion
Funny you should say that, because when a thread was posted yesterday about a Catholic priest who attempted to arouse some doubts among Protestants about their religion, one of the responses accused him of using the arguments of the Devil. What's sauce for the goose is not really sauce for the gander, I suppose.
This too shall pass. With a history of nearly 2,000 years, the Church has weathered many such storms and many such men and will continue to do so because Jesus promised that nothing, including the gates of hell, would or will prevail against her.
As for resemblance to the early Christian Catholic church I have these questions for you.
Do all Protestants sell everything they own to be shared by all according to their needs?
Do all Protestants meet daily to break bread and give thanks?
Do all Protestants go to synagogue on Saturday and observe the Jewish Sabbath?
In light of the 2,000 years that have passed, it is ridiculous to compare what the Church looked like then to what it is now. The inward truth and holiness of the Church is the same, though the outward appearance is different.
It is also ridiculous to say that the Church instructs us to not debate doctrines and practices. So ridiculous it doesn’t deserve any more comment than that.
As for what is best for my eternal soul, I place my trust in Jesus and His Church for that.
