The church is so much more than these men and this scandal.

Oh it is not...These men ARE your church...Your religion does not resemble any New Testament church in the scriptures...It was created and developed over centuries by men...The same men spoken of in this article...

These type of posts are meant to try to do to honorable Catholics what honest debate cannot, and that is to cast doubt on their faith.

Honest debate always puts your religion is a true light, or darkness...I assume that's why Catholics are instructed not to debate your religion...

It is in the best interest of your eternal soul to have doubts about your religion...

As opposed to yours, which was created and developed over the last century by men, and doesn't resemble any Christian church that existed 200 years ago, to say nothing of any that existed in NT times.

I assume that's why Catholics are instructed not to debate your religion.

Why don't you post a link to that so-called "instruction"?

It is in the best interest of your eternal soul to have doubts about your religion

Funny you should say that, because when a thread was posted yesterday about a Catholic priest who attempted to arouse some doubts among Protestants about their religion, one of the responses accused him of using the arguments of the Devil. What's sauce for the goose is not really sauce for the gander, I suppose.

This too shall pass. With a history of nearly 2,000 years, the Church has weathered many such storms and many such men and will continue to do so because Jesus promised that nothing, including the gates of hell, would or will prevail against her.

As for resemblance to the early Christian Catholic church I have these questions for you.

Do all Protestants sell everything they own to be shared by all according to their needs?

Do all Protestants meet daily to break bread and give thanks?

Do all Protestants go to synagogue on Saturday and observe the Jewish Sabbath?

In light of the 2,000 years that have passed, it is ridiculous to compare what the Church looked like then to what it is now. The inward truth and holiness of the Church is the same, though the outward appearance is different.

It is also ridiculous to say that the Church instructs us to not debate doctrines and practices. So ridiculous it doesn’t deserve any more comment than that.

As for what is best for my eternal soul, I place my trust in Jesus and His Church for that.
