The name Gertrude makes me think of Stephen Leacock's story "Gertrude the Governess," one of his best. Very funny.

I love Leacock's descriptions:
still showed the outlines of a Norman Keep, to which had been added a Lancastrian Jail and a Plantagenet Orphan Asylum.
