I don’t like the idea of a rush to canonization.

Regardless, the entire world seems to turn just a bit faster these days, so I do believe a thorough investigation has been undertaken. There is no reason why all of the discussion and arbitration and investigation of the events of June 3rd could not have taken place via modern methods of communication. It could be done in an absolute fraction of the time that it used to take. We also hear more about more potential candidates for sainthood these days because of modern communications, as well.

John Paul the Great needs the assistance of no one here on earth to attain his heavenly crown, which I feel quite certain that he attained the day that he left us. I don’t like that the faithful need to have the process of canonization completed simply to validate sainthood for themselves. One of my long time favorites just became an official saint this year; Damien of the Lepers.

All that being said; won’t it be a wonderful day when our beloved Holy Father, John Paul II ~ along with Mother Theresa ~ attain their rightful place among the saints of our Church?
