The Most Correct Book: Joseph Smith's Appraisal of the Book of Mormon
Robert L. Millet; he who is built upon the rock will we receive this work with gladness.
Much has been said and demeaning about bro Millet
...separating the wheat from the chatter of the tears!
I could not leave without leaving these words of bro Millet
Understand the words such as precepts, the word most correct and how it was used in the 1800's, things of God are only known by the power and spirit of God, the truthfulness and much much more...
Most importantly again he who is built upon the rock receive this work with gladness
The Book of Mormon was met for the children of today and the thing of most worth was preserved.
The Book of Mormon is not on trial it is the people and the members of today and how they treat and what they do with the Book of Mormon.
He was, I don’t suspect he is any longer though...
The pity is he is still leading too many to Hell with his calculated blasphemies.
Some spin Lds "prophets" have even put on the church's own claims!
Per Mormonism, Jesus Christ couldn't keep a church together...yet Joseph Smith was the "only man" that ever could!
In Smith's eyes, HE was #1...Christ was an "also"-ran!
Read it yourself -- Joseph Smith trying to brag away: Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over! Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on the top at last. I have more to boast of than ever any man had. I am the only man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam. A large majority of the whole have stood by me. Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that no man ever did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet. (History of the Church, vol. 6, pp. 408-409)
Can you imagine people like Restornu and Paragon Defender being disciples of such a braggadoso like Smith?
Such spin and twist. You really should be ashamed. It’s ALMOST funny.
You bold and underline and don’t seem to really even read it. Too Much.
why are you not a happy camper?
Those who are happy campers would not try spending all their time tearing down others but looking for the good in the Lord’s world!
Why is simply quoting your leader a negative event -- unless the leader himself said something negative?
Resty, if you cited my spiritual leaders, I'd be happy that you did that!
On the other hand, when your leaders are cited...you get all glum...& start accusing others not being "happy." Are you not happy what your spiritual leader has said -- and that others are quoting him?
If what Smith said was negative, then don't transfer the negativity to somebody merely quoting him. The attitude displayed comes with the content of the quote!
So now that we've moved on from your little "let's not pay attention to the message, let's just take aim @ the messenger" game, allow me to explain why quoting Joseph Smith in this instance is a downer for everybody -- Mormon & non-Mormon alike!
Let's look again at what Smith said -- and then examine it from the Bible:
Come on! ye prosecutors! ye false swearers! All hell, boil over!
[Is that a "positive" statement, Resty...is Smith inviting some kind of "party" where all hell's going boil over?]
Picking up Smith quote: Ye burning mountains, roll down your lava! for I will come out on the top at last.
Resty, what does Scripture say about those boasting to "come out on top"???
Picking up Smith quote: I have MORE to boast of than ever ANY man had.
Was this a deep sin of Smith's here? To boast about even more than Jesus Christ? Yes? No? If not, why not?
Picking up Smith quote: I am the ONLY man that has ever been able to keep a whole church together since the days of Adam.
Hmmm...haven't we read on FR that 8 of the 11 original Book of Mormon witnesses apostatized or somewhere around those numbers?
Picking up Smith quote: Neither Paul, John, Peter, nor Jesus ever did it. I boast that NO man EVER did such a work as I. The followers of Jesus ran away from Him; but the Latter-day Saints never ran away from me yet. (History of the Church, vol. 6, pp. 408-409)
Now we all know Jesus had to be the most "negative" with the religious legalists of His day. Indeed, Resty, Jesus was NOT a happy camper about them...One of the roughest chapters where Jesus was not a happy camper with them was Matthew 23, which since I've now been beginning to quote to Mormons, that all should read so that you can get a glimpse about how Jesus feels about the 21st century religious legalists, too!
Let's review just one verse from Matt. 23: they love the place of honor at banquets and the most important seats in the synagogues (Matt. 23:6)
Now Jesus elaborated upon this earlier (Luke 14). So let's look at how Jesus feels how about those who exalt themselves...an interesting word, BTW, because the very primary life goal of a temple Mormon is to exalt themselves (exaltation) & reach the highest level of the celestial kingdom:
7 When he [Jesus]noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: 8 When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. 9 If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, Give this person your seat. Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. 10 But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, Friend, move up to a better place. Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests. 11 For ALL those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted. (Luke 14:7-11)
So, Resty, when Smith identified himself as the most distinguished man ever to live...when Jesus said, "do not take the place of honor," was this a commandment that Smith badly failed?
Why didn't Smith obey Jesus' words here, Resty?
Or, Resty, are you going to go on record & advocate for all reading here that say, all Lds high school & college students should go around & boast highly about themselves, making Smith out to be their example?
Do you believe that if you can stump those exposing the blasphemies and heresies in your chosen religion which tries to lie and say it is 'restored Christianity' that somehow the blasphemies in Smithianism will not be blasphemies?
You're falling for the oldest trick satan has devised. That Mormons want so desperately to make 2000 years of Christianity null and void in order to give license to their peepstone divination sexual predator of married women says a lot about their desperation, and perhaps even more about the state of their souls.
Because Mormons do not know The Jesus Christ of the Bible, The Word Who was with God and WAS GOD in the beginning, they ask to Whom He addressed His prayers in the Garden. Then they stamp their widdle feet and think Jesus's words on the Cross were due to Him being confused or wanting to come down off the Cross.
If Mormons knew the Bible, Psalm 22, they would know that even as He was dying an agonizing death on the cross, He was focused upon helping those in attendance and those 2000 years later who would be lost in demonic cults. Jesus spoke the passages from Psalm 22 because He IS Whom He said He IS and He IS The Word made flesh. He came in the flesh and showed perfect obedience as The perfect example for us, obedience even to death on a cruel cross, to open Heaven's gate to those who will trust Him and accept Him as their Savior, their only means to life from God for their human spirit.
In the Mormonic frenzy to try and trip up a Christian, to sow confusion for their father's purposes, Mormons even point to Matthew 3:17 and fail to see that the Triune God is the focus, with God The Father ALmighty, God the Holy Spirit, and God The Son all manifesting in that one passage!
Even the questions posed are bordering on blasphemy toward the Almighty God Who created Time and Space. When Mormons pose questions like "How was the gospel preached to Abraham, thousands of years before Jesus was born? (Galatians 3:8)" it is immediately obvious that the goal is to diminish the Power and Sovereignty of The Almighty by implying He is less than able to move to any point in Time He so chooses, even taking the resurrected body He broguht out of a cold tomb and walking into any place or time He so chooses.
If I answered all of your Mormonic questions, would you even realize that it proves Mormonism is blasphemy toward Christ/God and His stated plan and purpose for becoming flesh and dwelling among us? Try a dose of honesty, Resty, and post the Mormonic answers you have been taught to the questions you copied and pasted. THEN we will reveal the blasphemies you've swallowed believing you've found 'the candy'.
It was cut and pasted without attribution from Greg West, the AFer who just attacked FR again recently.
Do not post anything from Greg West aka spamlds.org - that source is not welcome on Free Republic.
Can you believe whomever wrote these for Resty (they sound just like delph of course) would ask such a thing given that the Mormonic mind has swallowed the Book of Moses written as a complete fiction yet adored as gospel truth? Can you believe the brazenness of the same Mormonic minds which see Smith plagarizing the King James Bible while claiming he was offering a direct quote from 600 BC Isaiah with the name Lucifer --a Latin name that came intot he Bible translations in the second centruy AD with Jerome's transaltion of Isaiah-- yet swallow the lie and then promote it as truth that Smith was translating golden plates written in 'reformed Hebrew'?
I think we have a large coward who is feeding these queries to a willing dupe who knows no better than to be used this way.
It was given to me and I did not know where the source came from only that those questions were legit!
Waht do Mormons Believe
Why is simply quoting your leader a negative event
LOL too much! As has been explained to you repeatedly, we have no issues having the scriptures or our leaders quoted. The problem with anti-Mormon propagandists is with them being out-of-context or just plain misrepresented. Occasionally it’s merely a disagreement but that isn’t the norm on FR.

You are so right PD they can never leave it in its pure form and let the spirit of the Lord edify the soul...
That is their biggest fear of letting go and let God!
there is no place else I would want to be in this day and age for the Book of Mormon was written for our time as brother Millet said none of those in the Book of Mormon saw these records nor would have the challenges as we have today.
The Lord in His wisdom preserve records for our day to guild us in these latter days.
The opposition to the Lord has spent so much time keeping many from entering the gate at the strait and narrow path.
Oh what joy is in store to those who do read the Book of Mormon as the Lord touches their souls confirming so many thoughts and understanding they have had in their journey here on earth!
Also what joy these will have as they read the Bible again and many passages will come to life that have laid dormant for so many years.
Those who truly received a witness of the Holy Ghost never again will wonder to and fro in the earth!
I hope many will dismiss all this anti chatter and listen to Millet’s talk and ponder and pray letting the spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ edify!

Oh what blessings are in store!
That what you tell OTHERS to do.
He lost the MORMON decoder ring to understand what it REALLY means!
(Wink - wink)
