On April 2, 2005 at 9:37 p.m. the Venerable Pope John Paul II died. In April of 2009 his beloved successor, Pope Benedict XVI, told Pilgrims gathered in Rome "With you, I pray for the gift of beatification". That prayer has been answered. Friday, January 14, 2011 the Holy See released the "Decree for the Beatification of the Servant of God John Paul II".
...The choice of the Feast of Divine Mercy, May 1, 2011 is not accidental. He had a deep devotion to his fellow Pole Sr. Faustina Kowalska and to the Divine Mercy devotion identified with her.
...Pope John Paul II became in both life and death a "living letter", as St Paul wrote to the Corinthians. (2 Cor.3) Also, like the master he loved he became a "grain of wheat" fallen to the ground in order to bear much fruit. (John 12: 24-26) Like countless others my life was forever changed by this prophet who occupied Peters' chair for such a brief time. I must admit, my heart still hurts when I think of him. I miss him.
Like millions, I am convinced that history will record him as "John Paul the Great." However, I am also convinced that his message still needs to be unpacked in order to be used as material for the work to be done in this new missionary age...
There is no doubt that we had a saint in our midst. A man so filled with Jesus Christ that, like the Apostle Paul, he no longer lived but "Christ lived in him." (Galatians 2) ...

Before JPII “brought in the fences to 100 feet”, made the canonization process so easy, and thus could proceed to beatify more people than all the previous popes put together, before that change, there were only two canonized popes in like 600+ years (Pius V & Pius X)!
Compared to Pius V, JPII is a Protestant Martin Luther. Compared to Pius X, JPII is a modernist/progressive and a devastator of the faithful. There is hardly a Catholic left today that lives the faith.
JPII may have not even made it to Purgatory, and if he did, he needs our prayers. and by the way, beatifications are fallible.
To paraphrase St. John Chrysotom: "Most priest are lost and few bishops are saved, not because of what they do, so much as what they fail to do".
JPII is a creation of the media, a media icon, a rock star, just like Obama is today.
Hey, I’m not denying or saying JPII was/wasn’t a saint, all I’m saying is that it’s a bit fast.
“You could beatify Ronald Reagan with those credentials.” —> I would actually :-)
Sir,
The beatification is the last step before the Church declares, Ex Cathedra, that he is in heaven. We do not declare Blessed anyone whom we do not believe to be in heaven already. A beatification does not mean that there is some doubt and that’s why you do not go for the canonization. It means that the time is not right, yet. God will let the Church know when the time is right.
What you stated there is a rumor. Any canon lawyer worth their salt knows that the position of Devils Advocate was not abolished by JPII. Just renamed. DO YOU NOT REALIZE THAT THE POPE IS NOT BOUND BY CANON LAW?
Beatifications are fallible, and the devils advocate was abolished in 1983, and the prior required 4 miracles for beatification, and additional 2 for Canonization have been reduced to 1 and 1.
It’s obvious that yYou have not even bothered to look it up ANYWHERE, so, stop spewing your errors over the internet.
