Every deliberate denial of one's faith is a grave sin.

Translation:
Every deliberate denial of one's faith is a MORTAL sin.

I am curious about how this translation came to be. Paul was known to express opinions that were not from Holy Spirit revelations, but he made it clear that it was not required, but his own opinion. One is his opinion that teachers?priests should be celibate. He also conceded that if celibacy was not an option, then they better be married.

I never got saved as a Catholic, but I don't blame Catholicism - a combination of inneffective teachers and an unready student account for it. I became saved in a non-denominational church which ascribes to the Bible as written. The Bible seems to indicate that the only unforgivable (Mortal) sin is to blaspheme the Holy Spirit.

I hope my prayers for you and your family gave you some comfort tand that He decided to touch you with what you need(ed).

While I do not ascribe to formal religion, I do believe the Bible is God's Word and am always eager to have someone explain that which I don't ascribe to. Would Peters' three times denial of Jesus be a Grave sin?

God Bless
