Er, no. The Magi did not find the baby in the manger. That was the shepherds in the field. The Magi came later, though we don't know how much later.

It would have been at least 7 years later if I recall correctly, after they came back from Egypt. Since the star that triggered their journey was first seen at his birth, they must have come from a long, long way off.
