The Messianic verses from Psalm 69 which Jesus quotes himself.

Psalm 69:7 Because for Thy sake I have borne reproach; Dishonor has covered my face. 8 I have become estranged from my brothers, and an alien to MY MOTHERS SONS. 9 For zeal for Thy house has consumed me, And the reproaches of those who reproach Thee have fallen on me."

Clearly, Mary was not a perpetual virgin. I believe the dogged defense of such irrelevant and non scriptural doctrines like the IC, perpetual virginity and assumption is the direct result of the pagan goddess worship influence after Constantines time and the Roman concept that sex is sinfull or at least unbecoming.
