He then proceeded to paint the church as a breeding ground for “Karl Marx” Communists and socialists. If this makes no sense to you, join the club...makes a lot of sense to me - in her dying days my mother was in a Methodist-sponsored nursing home at six thousand dollars a month - though she had been a Methodist for most of her ninety-two years, since early childhood, the church could come up with no financial aid to help extend her meager savings as they ran out. Yet at about the same time the church's Board on Social Responsibility or whatever it's called was forking over a cool million dollars to help pay legal fees to get little Elian Gonzalez shipped back to Cuba - in effect taking church money to pay Fidel Castro's legal bills - the author of this article objecting to calling Methodism "The Religious Arm of Socialism" is an ignoramus....

Baloney. The UMC is no more marxist than any of the other mainline denominations and the Roman Catholic Church. There are conservative elements and movements within the UMC. (ie the confessing movement, the renewal movement and the Institute for Religious Democracy)

It’s more what the pastor did not teach and did not say, than what he said.

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)

Later, and I thank God for it, I attended a Church in which the Pastor, and the Sunday school teachers taught to us memorize the Holy Scriptures, and we memorized the Books of the Bible.

Here are a few of the verses I still remember:

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

Whether I do or not does not make it so. To take pleasure of any kind is evil, if you love it more than you do our Saviour!

Let me ask you a question; Do you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?
Tell me what do you think of Him, and His words, and His promises?

Yes, I know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior -- do you know Him? Do you believe that Jesus made wine from water at Cana? Do you believe that Jesus is Lord God, Only Begotten Son of God, God from God, light from Light, True God from True God?

I did answer your question. It is an anwer of yes and know, I you have if seek to deny youself and seek God’s will above you own will.

Boy, you do have a hang up don’t you! All I said is the Young pastor (and he was part time then) changed the whole message of the church, and this was back in 47-48) but you could see this all over America, that change was coming, and especially from the colleges and universities.

These changes began to leave the message of Christ and of salvation from their lives. Today the churches are filled with people looking for a license “to do what is right in their own eyes!”

Is going to movies and dancing more important than sharing the Gospel of Christ with your neighbors and your families (and even your own children?)

I gave you the answer, and it was yes and know! I do mean Know, you through the indwelling spirit will lead and guide you, if you are not in rebellion!

There is no question if you believe what is given in God’s Word if you are born of the spirit.

Have you been born twice? I praise God, by His mercy and grace I have!

You surely know, we are not here to nit-pick issues, but to know Him, and to make Him known.

It does not make any different, in any of these things if you are not born from above, so that we become the children of God. Then we will have a new set of wants!
