**Good works are only such as God has commanded in His holy Word**

Knock me over with a feather. Protestants believe in good works?

I believe it was Augustine that said it best about good works:

As Augustine knew, we are saved TO DO good works. We are not saved BY our good works.

The confession of the thief was evidence of his faith. His confession was his good work which was the result of that faith. He was created in Christ Jesus for good works. After all, we're still talking about it 2,000 years later, aren't we?
