Did fellow Mormons cover up officer's baby molestations?
Idaho Statesman ^ | Dec. 12, 2010 | Patrick Orr

...As many as 15 people who knew...Boise police officer...confessed to molesting babies...face no criminal charges.

...deputies...determined...leaders of...Latter-day Saints congregation that Stephen R. Young attended can’t be charged because of...clergy privilege law.

SNIP

...Young turned himself in...March 2... That was about two months after church officials say they first talked to Young about his crimes.

SNIP

...Ada County prosecutors say...Steve Nelson sexually abused as many as four children over a 30-year period...Nelson confessed to molesting one child to LDS officials, who learned of the crime from the victim but did not report it.

More than 20 years later, Nelson pleaded guilty...In 2009, the woman he...abused as a preteenager...caught him molesting a 3-year-old girl, according to court records.

Before sending Nelson to...prison...Judge Darla Williamson told him: “I...don’t understand...why the church didn’t require that law enforcement be involved with you. Possibly...we would have at least one less victim.”

...Tim Ryan is serving...probation...after pleading guilty...to...sexual abuse...Detectives say...the case...was dropped when the girl’s family wouldn’t cooperate with investigators. About the time the case was dropped, prosecutors said, the girl met with Ryan and an LDS bishop.

The victim told the Idaho Statesman last week that she had to attend a meeting with an LDS bishop and Ryan where she was asked to forgive Ryan....

“...I was really scared...They wanted me to forgive him. I was 14. I was put on the spot. What are you going to say?”

SNIP

...investigators and...prosecutors say Young could have abused as many as 20...victims over a 30-year period... Prosecutors say Young’s victims were infants or babies, 21 months of age or younger...all...family members or children of friends.

SNIP

Young’s wife first mentions...LDS Church in a...journal entry...says Young “was relying on (the bishop). He said (the bishop) made a lot of calls to keep him from going to jail.”...

Post 363 was very personal. It used “you” seven times and read the poster’s mind, e.g. that he is annoyed. It was making the thread “about” an individual Freeper which is a form of “making it personal.”

David fell from exaltation, Lucifer fell from grace, do you see the different when one falls from exaltation or Celestial Kingdom there still are two Kingdoms of grace left Terrestrial and Telestial kingdom.

Post 314 is also an ad hominem argument. It would not have been had Godzilla said "When the sources are valid it is easy to form an intelligent answer to a simple question. Evidently, the sources are invalid."

Sadly there may well be a few genuine Christians with in the Mormon faith

Good to know that you don't condemn them all. As I said, what about those Mormons who live by the Spirit of the Most High?

We are to snatch from the fire those lead astray by the work of the evil one.

Do you think the most effective way to do that is through condemnation? Or do you think it would be better to reveal Christ in us as a testimony?

So are you saying that it doesn't matter what you believe or what doctrine you follow as long as what exists in your heart is A-OK?

Not at all. I am saying that is is a process. It doesn't begin with doctrine. It begins with inviting Christ into one's heart. Only then can God bring about those changes.

Our job as Christians is to reveal Christ working in us. I don't see very much of that going on in these anti-Mormon threads.

David is saved (grace) but he will never be able to go to the Celestrial Kingdom.

Do you see the Tommy Rot in that statement ???

None of it is Biblical...

It may be mormon doctrine...

But none of it has anything to do with Christianity...

Mormonism is not Christianity...

Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus, saying, “Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread.” He answered and said to them, “Why do you also transgress the commandment of God because of your tradition? For God commanded, saying, ‘Honor your father and your mother’; and, ‘He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘Whoever says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is a gift to God”— then he need not honor his father or mother.’ Thus you have made the commandment of God of no effect by your tradition. Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying:

‘ These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.” Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?” But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.” So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

Matthew 15:1-20

Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’”

Yes, I forgot that verse. Thanks for pointing it out.

It also totally negates what you claimed yesterday -- that Jesus didn't condemn doctrine!!!

Ready to withdraw your argument & apologize for misleading others who will read your previous posts & may not capture all of this dialogue?

Some who want no one to point out the heresies at the heart of Mormonism find nothing amiss in the heretical teachings on the Mormonism god and the Mormonism jesus that needs address, even though Mormons claim to be faithing in the a Jesus their religion does not endorse. We are to shut up and let the devilish deceit continue because 'we're not ecumenical enough' don'tchaknow. And just like the liberals and ecumenist demanding that no one question sinkEmperor clinton on his sexual degeneracy (the 'whoever is without sin cast the first stone' ploy), these posters try to use scripture to silence exposure of the heresies in Mormonism.

That has the smell of someone who doesn't know the real Jesus so they are okay with the Mormonism jesus and the Mormonism god and polytheism. I find myself wondering how many of my friend Glenn Beck's black robed brigade are that devoted to ecumenicalism at any cost to the Grace of God in Christ Jesus?
