God does “occupy Jerusalem”, the heavenly Jerusalem.
But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, (Hebrews 12:22)It is the habitation of the true children of Abraham.
For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar-- for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children-- but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. It’s always interesting to ask, especially of what it says in Hebrews regarding the blood of bulls and goats, why God would need to reestablish animal sacrifice. My best friend and pastor, who is a dispensational, tells me it’s as a “memorial”.
Of course, he will also preach, correctly, that the animal sacrifices under the Old Covenant were a type fulfilled in Christ, the ultimate anti-type.
Maybe if they were to read the text instead of the notes in their Dake’s and Schofield’s ...
