This site is dedicated to subjecting particularly awful Christian liturgical vestments or church decorations to the ridicule they so richly deserve. Contributions are welcome and can be e-mailed to websterglobe at juno dot com.
(The following is a sampling of recent features on that blog)
There might be a liturgical reason for this but I'll be damned if I can figure out what it is.
If the phrase "too clever by half" ever suggests itself, you're doing it wrong.
Or Jackson Pollock's bath mat?
Dignity 1. The quality or state of being worthy of esteem or respect.
2. Inherent nobility and worth: the dignity of honest labor.
3. a. Poise and self-respect.
b. Stateliness and formality in manner and appearance.
4. The respect and honor associated with an important position.
5. A high office or rank.
Antonym: That guy in the picture.
TOPICS: Catholic; Mainline Protestant; Ministry/Outreach
KEYWORDS: badvestments; vestments
A "fun" blog that is worth bookmarking. It just goes to show you that the liturgy you have to endure is likely not nearly as bad as it could be...(I hope)...

The first one with the rooster has a likely explanation. There is a movement, called “Cursillo” which has as one of its emblems a rooster with a colorful tail.
Cursillo is a weekend spent as an encounter with God, exploring the “many colors” of the relationship with Him.
It is a deeply spritual encounter, but laced with many elements of joy and love.
Many of the team members presenting the weekend wear colorful clothing decorated with roosters, rainbows, etc.
For Christians, the weekend can be a life-changing event.
It started in the Catholic church and has spread to many Protestant churches where it has been called other names such as, “Walk to Emmaus”, “Tres Dias”, etc.

The most beautiful vestments I’ve seen are those which are handmade by good nuns,...who pray with every stitch.

It never ceases to amaze me that they never seem to run out of material. Almost anything with Bishop Mark Hanson or Bishopette Jeffries is a must see.

On second thought, the only thing more amazing than the vestments is that the wearers allow themselves to be photographed.

I don't always wear a chasuble, but when I do, I prefer . . . TO STAND BY MARTY FIERRO!

Usually I just wear an alb and stole. I like chasubles, but they are expensive and hot.

I’d venture to guess that the “Bad Vestments Blog” won’t be paying you much attention.

My eyes!!!!!LOL
Really, some of the most beautiful vestments are worn by our associate pastor, Fr. Eddie. He was just ordained last year. He’s really ‘old school,’ and his vestments reflect it. Fr. Greg’s aren’t as elaborte, but they are nice and nothing like the monstrosities on this blog ;)

Some of the contemporary music is bad enough. If my pastor wore one or more of these garments I’d likely be thrown out for my loud laughter.

Usually I just wear an alb and stole I know some men of the cloth take a vow of poverty, but do you really have to resort to theft?
