In a major recession, some brainiacs decided they want to build a $150 million Noah's Ark Amusement Park in Kentucky. The effort is backed by Answers in Genesis, the group that sunk millions into a "creation" museum that highlights their distorted view of science with such things as men living with dinosaurs.
Many Christians are asking, however, aren't there better things to spend this money on?
"Hungry people, missionaries, new churches, charities, all should be higher on the list. This is embarassing," said one churchgoer.
Another added, "How can we afford to waste this money while the government is busy destroying our economy?"
"It's time to reign in these people and put the money to something God would be proud of."
I disagree. The verses quoted in Post 48 show Mary's 'offerings' being criticized by apparent 'Believers' (Martha probably was one ... Judas -- no). They said Mary's resources could be applied to better purposes.
That is the gist of your complaint.
And if you don't think the construction of a 'to scale' replica of Noah's Ark is a worthy cause - by all means you are free to donate where you see fit.
You are correct - I apparently don't understand the 'OEC' position (unless the position is that of straddling a fence).
Do they really believe in a global catastrophic flood wherein only 8 people, and the land animals and birds, that were within the Ark survived? That this flood covered the whole earth, and that the land was ripped up with upheavals as 'the fountains of the great deep were opened up'?
If so - then good for them. At least they got that part right.
Yet that’s what you do, a global flood with no evidences. Yes, I have seen all the supposed YEC evidences and they don’t hold up under 5 minutes of scrutiny. YECs force-fit their theory onto nature and the Bible after starting with their conclusion before hand. Lot’s of smoke and mirrors, but it doesn’t hold up side-by-side with OEC. Real funny thing is that the whole reason behind the global flood was to explain way the geologic layers that evolutionsts used to “prove” evolution, yet they don’t prove evolution at all! Quite the opposite!
So you believe in an irrational, nonsensical God? You have to if you think plants came before the Sun and Moon. The original Hebrew states they appeared, not created, after, which also happens to agree with the natural record. This is one of the inconvienent truths. You would think more people would question the nonsensical notion of plants before the Sun. It’s a prime YEC contradiction. And those other things fit in the OEC “timeline.” I thought you said you used to be a OEC? I can pick up any OEC book and see what you are saying isn’t true.
Again a false comparison. You don’t really get those verses, but that’s ok.

The Hebrew says va-ya’as (1:16) which means “and He made.”
‘Appeared’ would use the root ra’ah, not asah.
There’s nothing nonsensical about plants before the sun because there was light from the first day.
Now, there is an aspect of plants that was not created until the 6th day and that’s the thorns and thistles. They were formed as a result of Adam’s sin but it would be hard for a OEC’er to explain why we would find fossilized thorns from a time long before the creation of man.

I don’t see how you can read the Bible and not conclude that there was a global flood that covered the entire earth, including the highest mountains.
‘asa translated as “made” which is in the form of a completed action. Past tense. Nice try though. Funny, don’t see thorns and thistles in my Bible. Another classic YEC insertion.

There are some obvious clues, like where did Noah’s bird find an olive leaf if the world had been so radically wiped out like the YEC flood theory claims? Did the olive tree grow at superplant speed? Or was the flood local and the bird flew outside of the flood zone?
P.S. Where’s this msytery light coming from? Lots of leaps in logic in the YEC view. Would God be so obtuse?
I’m all for capitalism. Ironically, however, Noah’s ark preceded a flood that wiped out man’s excesses.

Yeah we must’ve snucked in Genesis 3:18 when nobody was looking /sarc

The whole point of sending a bird out was to see if the flood was over. Please see Genesis 8:8-9 “for water was upon the surface of all the earth.” He waited 7 more days, sent the dove out again and behold! The dove came back with the leaf that evening. That’s when he knew the waters had subsided.
What exactly is the “FactFinding Times”?
Would Jesus build a Christian themed amusement park?
“freshly plucked olive leaf” Where did he get it?
No, in fact Noah’s flood destroyed the people who were more worried about amusement than the world around them.
freshly plucked olive leaf Where did he get it?
From a plant that wasn’t there 7 days earlier. Otherwise the dove would’ve plucked it the first time it was sent.
So an olive tree grows in 7 days?
