The first family says grace each night before dinner, President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle told ABC News in an interview that aired Friday.
"It's interesting listening to the girls, what they pray for," the president told Barbara Walters, referring to daughters Malia and Sasha.
"They'll talk about family and thanking God for blessing us, but they'll always add a little twist: 'I hope we have a great Thanksgiving, I can't wait to see the cousins,' " Obama said. "They used to pray for a dog, until we got a dog."
"But in the end," the first lady added, "we always say, 'we hope we live long and strong.'"
The president repeated those words: "Long and strong."
The Obamas have frequently spoken about prayer since arriving in the White House. Last month, Michelle Obama told a nationally syndicated radio show that the Obamas can feel prayers that are said for them.....

Simple...like everything else, it’s all about them.
People hope when they don't have a prayer.
"But in the end," the first lady added, "we always say, 'we hope we live long and strong.'"
It appears that all their prayers are for matters related to themselves and not of others.
Big shock there, huh?
I still can’t believe that he is president of the United States.
It means they couldn’t even get “Live long and prosper” right.
Well! I have a Pray. Lord please guide and help the first family to become true Christians who really care about us and your word. In His name! Praise Jesus!
They’re saying *uh oh*, we need to play a new part— Americans and their bibles are stronger than we thought.
They’ll get religion real fast.
I wonder if allah answers prayers like that.
LLS
That is from the song “Baby Got Back” from Sir Mix A-lot. From the early 1990s.
It goes “Because I am long and I am strong, and I am down to get the friction on.....”
Maybe they are praying to their Lance Armstrong wrist bands.
“we live long and strong”
Not really a prayer...where is the asking of God.
More like a family self-affirmation motto lol.
Christians do not witness that they pray, but rather they witness to whom they pray, their Lord Jesus.
I am supposed to believe that people who do not attend Church services say Grace every night???
Uh Uh.
Michelle says she can “feel” the prayers of those who pray for them?
Uh Uh .
I don’t believe a word of it.
Wish I could help but I never took up jive.
Obama - being muslim; I doubt that their demon possed muslim god would release them to the true GOD ALMIGHTY & glorified JESUS CHRIST and HIS free Grace and true In Christ doctrines of salvation by the faith OF Jesus Christ; and not of doctrines of demons and false doctrines of salvation by works of the law, nor of following idolatrous worship of statues made with men’s and women’s likeness; made by men’s hands; and not following God commandments in Exodus 20:3,4,5.
Exactly..instead of giving thanks, sounds like a wish list..
