***I think it’s *easyism*. the preachers are too damned lazy to preach, and the hearers too damned lazy to learn***

Now that you mention it, I have NEVER heard a Pentecostal expound or open the scriptures to understanding. I’m not saying they don’t, I’ve just never found one doing it.

My experience is the opposite.

Holy Spirit is the one leading us into all truths.

The BEST Bible expositors I’ve ever sat under were Pentecostal/Charismatic.

They made it alive and digestable, applicable, life giving in ways others never approached near to.

Actually, I’d take Farmer Jones, Spirit filled, rambling on about what God has shown him in Scripture . . .

to a LOT of Baptist, Lutheran, Methodist, etc. etc. etc. Seminary PhD’s any day, week, month, century.

They do quote from scripture.

*easyism*

When the word of God isn't preached, the flock is not fed. they can dance all they want to, but they get bumpkis. Same with black churches like Rev Wright's, a lot of yelling and jumping up and down, everybody gets an adrenaline rush and some exercise, full of the sound and the fury, and signifying nothing
