Just got a telephone call from a good friend. Her Yellow Labrador Retriever, Woody, is at the vet with a blockage. They are trying to shift it without surgery, but if things haven't moved by tomorrow morning they will have to go in.
Woody is a big ol' boy and absolutely the sweetest dog you will ever meet. He is also a great hunting retriever and my friend's best pal. And he is the father of my little yellow dog Katy.
Please everybody pray that we have a good outcome here -- that they can move the blockage without surgery . . . failing that, that the surgery be uneventful and Woody have no infection or other complications.

Pinging the prayer list! Sorry in advance if some of the names are wrong, I try to keep it current but sometimes fall down on the job.
I humbly ask your prayers for a good friend's dog. He is a good dog, and he loves his family dearly and they love him.

Could y'all unleash the Doggie Ping List?
This is a sweet, dear Yellow Lab in mortal danger.
That's Woods on the right, his daughter Katy on the left. Katy lives with me.

His intestinal tract. That's what Labs do . . . eat stuff they shouldn't. They're just an appetite with a search and retrieve function, unfortunately. :-(
His owner suspects that he got into the garbage and ate the remains of a deer carcass -- they went hunting last weekend. They won't know for sure until the obstruction comes out, one way or another.

Prayers UP for Woody. May God bless him during this difficult time. Please keep us all posted about your beautiful dog.

I’ll say a special prayer for him tonight. God knows what he needs, and I will pray that God’s Will will be done.
Prayers will also go for the “parents” of this big ol’ boy.

A good time to remind people not to feed bones to pets.
My vet has a sign on the door every year--
"Don't feed the bones to your pets...I don't want to work on Thanksgiving, either."

Prayers for Woody and his complete, rapid recovery from this life-threatening problem.
I know labs eat just everything, but when we got our mastiff, the breeder cautioned us to be careful of him eating gravel. Says they like it. Fortunately, we got through that phase, as far as I know...
