How time does fly.
A question on this parashah: is the Luz/Beit-'El mentioned the city of Beit-'El, or is it Har HaBayit in Jerusalem?
I would love a little explanation of the Hebrew terms, the names are obvious, and how the reading schedule works.

Again, I'm not being a quiz master here. I'm asking because I don't know.
This is a rare case where Rashi and midrash seem unsatisfactory to me. Identifying this Luz/Beit El with Shilo makes sense, if Jacob’s inability to ‘reveal the End’ is taken to mean that he could not see it was Har Habayit that would be the final resting place for God’s presence. The kingdom was born and renewed there, and it was also home to the Mishkan.
Guess I need to consult my Rashi.
I've actually been to Tel Shiloh. Even brought back a small rock (from the remains of the former sanctuary there). Of course, I asked first to make sure it would not be an act of me`ilah. I was told that the sanctity of Shiloh, like that of Har Sinai, was temporary, and that taking a small rock as a souvenir was not sacrilegious.
What is Ro’sh Chodesh Kislev ?
Why is the week divided between Kohen, Levi, etc.? Is the passage directed at that group, or is that the reading for that particular group?
Do you have a book that explains each reading? I don’t understand the questions in the posts.
Ro'sh Chodesh=the new moon. Kislev in the new month coming in, so it means the new moon of Kislev.
The week isn't divided. The readings are divided. On most weekday mornings and Shabbat evening three members of the minyan come up for the reading. On Shabbat morning seven men come up. Each reads (or most usually has read in his behalf) the verses so labeled.
Are the various readings read in the synagogue? Are the people able to be there to hear every reading?
Exactly. These are the liturgical readings for the week. The readings take place in a synagogue when there is a minyan of at least ten adult male Jews--comparable to (lehavdil) the readings at Catholic masses.
Then these liturgical readings must be in addition to reading Torah at home and on the Sabbath?
Is it difficult to get ten adult male Jews? It just begs the question, when do you all come together to feast on God’s Word?

Questions are always good. I guess I should have been clearer that mine was my answer.
Yet find a synagogue nearby, just drop in on Saturday morning services and have your outlook, if not potentially your life changed.

I have visited a synagogue in the past.
I had no idea that my questions would finally take me to a website discussing what “Noachide” means.
