In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

I have said often, and maintain to this day, that the appeal of the Protestant churches over the Christian ones is the relative ease and convenience.

Frankly, what you say and "maintain to this day" is of little account. It is far easier to be a puppet, turn of your thinker, and just believe what we, the majesterium, tell you what to do and believe.

Or was it that Matthias, whose name is heard on one occassion and never again, was not the choice of the Lord and was mistakenly chosen by the Apostles?

ACTS 1:26 And they cast lots for them, and the lot fell on Matthi'as; and he was enrolled with the eleven apostles.

How do you know it was a mistake?

I don't. That's probably I phrased it as a question. :-)

It did exist in Scripture. They just missed it because they didn't interpret Scripture right. Isaiah 7:14

Isa 7:14 is not about any messiah. Read the whole chapter.

Why would you care if they anathematized you?

Because Dr. E asked me. Does context mean anything to you or do you operate on disconnected snippets?

Link #1 is from someone who professes to not be Catholic.

Isn't that the same person for whom you've expressed great admiration for his knowledge? In fact, have you not claimed to fall back on his historical expertise?

No need to apologize, b-d. There are plenty of respectable sources (not necessarily Christian) who disagree with your interpretations of Ezekiel or Isaiah, who state that the chapter you mentioned are not about Satan.

Whether Luke was present or not I don’t how one would determine but if Matthias was NOT to be counted among the 12 then who would be? No other person is appointed by Christ to be so numbered and even Paul did not count himself among the 12.

“I rather think the number “12” is important and was reserved to Jesus alone”.

I agree and therefore must ask, ‘If not Matthias, then who did Christ choose to fill out the number 12?’ And if he did, when and how?

Satan takes the Word more serious....So now you speak for Satan and God....doesn't make what you post anymore insightful or true. It just gives you far more wiggle room.

It that's the best you can do, you've done nothing. Aside from that - I don't speak for anyone. And to make a statement like that shows a major lack of knowledge of God's Word. It's not surprising why Catholics are so deceived.

I find that when someone is so resistant to gain knowledge, they usually end up learning through experience, which most times, is the hard way. Enjoy.

Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. "Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children".

Stf-””Non Catholics can never say “the faith is the faith” regardless of departures because there is no foundation of an forever changing faith that makes up their faith and departures is the core of protestant faith””

MM-”Not so, because the foundational element is the belief in salvation through faith in Christ alone.”

Non Catholics immediately depart from the foundational element of Christ alone once they make up their own theology of what Christ taught that cannot be measured against consistent historical Christianity. Protestantism is not united in faith alone, otherwise you would be united in things like infant Baptism ,etc..and of one mind in scripture interpretations with concrete teachings that can never change.

Protestant theology is always changing (not as much so with mainstream protestants because they adopted things from Catholicism) and can hardly ever be pinned down. The only time you get things right is when you borrow from Catholic Theology

I accept protestants as brothers and sisters in Christ based on their belief that Christ is God(which is Catholic dogma),but I reject much of how you theologically make Christ out to be understood

Believing in Christ alone does not mean many truths opposite of each other of what Christ taught

The way I see it is that Luke just recorded what happened when Peter took matters into his own hands.

I don’t know that Luke voiced his approval or disapproval, or his opinion on apostolic succession at all.

How much love did they have to lose? They had NO LOVE for Jesus,

Jesus still loves them even though they reject Him

Imagine hating and hurting someone who loves you more than you ever realized, than when you realize how much that person loved you that you cannot ever do anything to ever feel that love from them ever again even though they don't stop loving you. Imagine how much that would burn when that someone is God

It is a prophecy and that is the verse.....

Read the Bible....

Matthew 1:18-25 Now the birth of Jesus Christ took place in this way. When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit. And her husband Joseph, being a just man and unwilling to put her to shame, resolved to divorce her quietly.

But as he considered these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, "Joseph, son of David, do not fear to take Mary as your wife, for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:
23 "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel" (which means, God with us).

When Joseph woke from sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him: he took his wife, but knew her not until she had given birth to a son. And he called his name Jesus.

LOL!! I was in the RCC and the HOLY SPIRIT isn't there.

The Holy Spirit is there in the Catholic Church ,you just choose to follow your own spirit or perhaps even a worse- a disguised evil spirit

Seems like an underlining RCC fear issue - Don't believe ANYONE - WE HAVE CONTROL OVER YOU and YOUR mind and YOUR soul! We will tell you all you need to know!

No fear at all,The Holy Spirit guided the Church ,so I don't run off and follow a self serving non historical faith. It was my free decision to leave protestant ism's ever changing beliefs

Why don't you read the Bible for yourself if you think the answer is in there?

Because we weren't talking about the Bible. Context, dear lady, context. Do you understand what context is? If you do, then why do you ask things out of cotnext?

Even if Joseph and Mary didn't have any other children, Catholics still haven't explained away this passage.... Matthew 1:24-25

Sure they have.

Interesting.

I responded to one of your earlier replies as follows (post 3858):
“Well, kosta50, you are being a bit less than effusive with your answers to my questions, but I will take them in good faith.”

It appears that I was quite mistaken.

What difference does it make to you that Mary was a virgin after she gave birth to Our Lord?

Of course I can't speak for metmom but my answer is none!

What difference does it make to you?

It's not my job to prove anything to you

It's not my job to listen to nut jobs who claim they know the truth without proving a single statement.
