In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

Dear NL,
The Mary page at UDayton is very sound in Church teaching,so I’m not sure why you would have a problem with it especially since it contains various encyclicals and excellent typologies

Take a look through it

Their deception is so deep, like the depths of hell is so deep. I’d say they overtake the muslims when it comes to believing deception.

The Catholic church has never interpreted the entire word of God.

I find it impossible to take anything you write seriously. It's obvious some people are addicted to anti Catholicism and discussion boards as a golden calf.

This is no more than the Roman version of the Babylonian myth of Ishtar and Tammuz (a form of Baal idolatry). Ishtar, the “Queen of heaven”, gives birth to Tammuz, the eternally dieing and resurrecting god who becomes her consort.

Ecc. 3:15, “That which hath been is now; and that which is to be hath already been;..”

AMEN. One of my favorite verses. Same old, same old.

"Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent" -- Acts 17:29-30

Certainly I agree.

All that glitters is not Mary’s halo.

You are welcome. Maybe some day you will find comfort in (or at least accurate understanding of) the Roman Catholic Church ...

The Infallibility of the pope is a figment of vain imaginations made up out of whole cloth.
Catholic theologian Hans Küng

Hans Küng is infamous as a strark raving liberal. He has been censured by the Church.

Pius may have been insane.

LOL. Not nearly as insane as many modern liberal theologians. Pius IX was under the stress of fighting a civil war against the Italian Free Masons and had to flee for his life from Rome on occasion. Still, his writings are rational and straightforward, unlike the writings of Hans Küng.

Who originally came up with the idea of papal infallibility? It was the creation of Peter Olivi, a Franciscan who was more than once accused of heresy

The Church has always acted upon the assumption of infallibility. St. Irenus, disciple of St. Polycarp who was successor to John, defended Church infallibility and the primacy of Rome in his work "Against Heresies."

The "Old Catholics" are now ordaining women and open homosexuals.

"The University of Dayton is recognized as a top-tier national university and one of the 10 best Catholic universities in the nation'

Don't make me laugh. The exclusive acceptance of one source versus another bases solely upon the degree to which it agrees with your biases is as phony as the pretense of objectivity. As the Obama speech at Notre Dame showed everyone "Catholic" universities are not run by the Catholic Church and as institutionally leftward biased as any secular institution. Having recently had one son graduate from a prominent "Catholic" university I know the degree to which it has lurched left since I attended.

Please pay attention. I responded to a quote by stfassisi which supported his argument. Impartial source? Here.

In response to my question to stfassisi questioning the impartiality of his source our resident, and uninvited, "know it all" jumped in with his typically insulting and inane reply.

Your argument is with stfassisi.

"One more example of "retroactive history".

Absence of proof is not proof of absence. More than sufficient indirect evidence is available to have convinced the vast majority of historians, regardless of their individual religious backgrounds and biases.

It requires an inventive mind to claim "historical fact" based on a lack of proof of absence of a stated claim. Fortunately for you the Catholic Church is perhaps the most prominent "inventive" organization in the history of the world.

BTW The Catholic Church and its' captive scientists once believed the Earth was the center of the Universe. Where was the proof of absence?

By the way, what exactly is a "Biblical Eunuchtarian"?

I have no idea. I suggest you ask some of your juvenile friends. By the way, what exactly is a "Biblical Eunuchtarian"?

“Not ordinarily, but a temple virgin dedicated to celibacy would be married off to an older man, typically a widower, so that she can be taken care of economically.”

And temple virgins too in the Jewish temple! As though the temple was a nunnery filled with Roman vestal virgins.

There is no comfort in deception and that's why millions have left. It's those that remain that find comfort in deception.

Don't call what is evil, good because you lack understanding of what is good - GOD'S WORD ONLY.

"You are the one that pointed the finger at Luther.."

Try to keep up. In post #2121 you stated that Luther was a "godly" man. I responded with ample proof that he was not. You responed by attacking the Catholic Church......BTW - not a very strong defense of Luther.

A legend is a legend is a legend. There is no historical record whatsoever which documents the so-called "conversion".

Read your history. Emperor Constantine died in 337 AD soon after he was baptized by bishop Eusebius of Nicomedia.

Proof? Please don't insult us by quoting the fiction writer Eusebius.

What proof do you have that Caesar died of stab wounds from Brutus and fiends. The history is established. You may reject it if you wish.

You misquote me. Of course the Church teaches homosexuality is a sin

Well, it might dance around the subject but the word "sin" is absent from this dance.

It's pretty funny when the RC apologist reads Philip Schaff and sees support for Rome.

Yet Protestant critic admits the historicity of Peter's line of succession in Rome. That was my only point.

Acknowledgment of a claim of historicity is not acknowledgment of fact.

As for the Inquisition, you speak with a forked tongue. You love to condemn the Church for its infiltration by homosexuals, but you also condemn the traditional means of rooting out infiltrators. Catholics await the restoration of the Holy Inquisition so that the homosexual priests and bishops may be expelled from office.

The office exists. The tools exist. What is missing is the will to enforce the written rules.
