Also, the Scouts dont require any specific belief in God, just that you believe God exists. You can be Jewish, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Universalist, Deist or anything you want. You just have to believe in a higher power. Perhaps you are thinking of the MASONs.
THEY had a BIG influence on MORMONism.
