One thing that isn’t made clear: was the SDFD required to be there by state, county or city law to help provide for people’s safety, or were the firemen forced to be there to support the homo parade (fill out the attendance numbers, etc.)? The linked article said they sued for being harassed at the parade. I didn’t see any mention about being “forced to attend”. A clear distinction needs to be made here. Then again, there’s always calling in “sick” . . . . Would the SDFD force a Jew who lost relatives in the Holocaust be forced to work or participate in a Hitler Pride Parade?
