1. Protestant minister paid by Lucifer to preach false doctrine was eliminated.....I've even heard reliable reports of members refusing to believe that older versions included the ridicule of a Protestant minister and bloody oaths. Of course, these people would avoid any information about older versions of the ceremonies in books or on the internet....a significant number of people were offended by various parts of the ceremony. In particular, many converts with a Christian background were highly offended by the part of the minister accepting employment from Satan ("Lucifer")...
2. All penalties (and gestures like throat slashing, chest slashing and bowel slashing) were eliminated.
3. Women's promise to be obedient to husbands was modified.
4. The intimate position at the veil (foot to foot, knee to knee, breast to breast, hand on shoulder and mouth to ear) was eliminated.
5. The strange words "Pay Lay Ale" (meaning "Oh God hear the words of my mouth") were eliminated.
Ping for later comment
Whether or whither?
wow!

Undecided readers,
If you peruse the Free Republic religion forums you will notice a pattern. There’s an anti-Mormon group of people here that spends a great deal of their time attacking the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They post regurgitated propaganda on an almost daily basis.
They have a misguided obsession. You can witness many different tactics employed that you might find quite interesting. The straw man argument is a big favorite and is frequently preceded by cherry-picking quotes or other material. After the “quotation” the attacker will misrepresent what has been said or what was meant and then attack their own interpretation. You’ll likely see perfect examples of just this shortly after I post.
Sometimes they cruise the headlines of the day seeking any story that might be twisted into making the Church look bad. Anything will do, just watch the progression of posts following it and see what I mean.
After reading their posts, I invite you to seek the truth about whatever “issue” they seem to be “revealing” or “exposing”. I promise that if you do so with honest intent, the “ahah” moments you will have will be many and frequent. You will start to recognize the tactics employed to cleverly twist and attack and will likely chuckle the more you see. In actuality, there’s nothing new here. It’s all been addressed many times before.
Here’s a few links to get your started from a different viewpoint. I have found that the vast majority of the “issues” brought up can be found and addressed at http://www.fairlds.org/ but here’s more:

I'm learning more every day. Thanks for posting that MHGinTN! That was really interesting.
Good post delacoert. Very interesting. Do older Mormons every comment about missing the old traditions?
At first, I wrote "horrifying" instead of eye-opening, but as I thought about it, I second guessed my-self. As you know, I have never been Mormon, neither have any of my family so I don't have natural attachments that would personalize the horror to me so I decided the use of the word was misleading. Since I have heard of other dreadful incidents of the occult practice of ritual abuse I settled on eye-opening. I now regret the use do to the understatement.
Wow. Thank you for your insight.
Wow. Praise God, indeed!
Next they will “promise” if you heed their simple advice you will receive special revelations known only to them or a few....an example follows:
(.....” I promise that if you do so with honest intent, the ahah moments you will have will be many and frequent......)
Do keep in mind if you don't get the special revelations then as noted above it will be because your motives aren't “honest”, or your intentions are not where they need to be, thus the problem will be you're not being “honest”....so the focus moves to your mental and heart condition. It's then the initiate questions themself....Bingo!... They know you've taken the bait and the desensitization and programming begins. If they can make you doubt yourself they know they can move forward with the process.
Repetition is another practice of cultists....such as here where a poster posts the same thing over and over again. Usually not their own opinion rather a carbon copy or scripted copy of how they are taught to recruit...and or "fight" those who would get in the way of their program to recruit you.... it doesn't matter if it's true or not because the motive is to make you doubt yourself more and more.

Isn't this how LIBERALS 'rule' today?
They take POLLS to see what some folks are thinking, and then adjust their sails to take advantage of the breeze?
Exactly.....;)
It's so true. I used the same tactic while on splits with the missionaries. It's what we were taught to do.

"Pray earnestly, if you feel you didn't get the answer or the right answer, keep praying until you do!"
Self-fulfilling "prophecy". "Dang it, I'm going to keep doing this until I get that answer."
