When the Holy Spirit is not welcome I am not interested!

Only in the ecumenical thread is the presents of the Holy spirit welcome.

One of the RM seems to perfers leaving the door open enough to continue to stir the pot in his version of Ecumenical there is no place for the Holy Ghost on FR where good people can strive for greater mutual respect, toleration, and co-operation among the world religions.

Thus, ecumenism is the promotion of unity or cooperation between distinct religious groups or denominations of Christianity.

Ecumenism is distinguished from and should not be misused to mean interfaith pluralism.

The interfaith movement strives for greater mutual respect, toleration, and co-operation among the world religions.

Interfaith dialogue between representatives of diverse faiths, does not necessarily intend reconciling their adherents into full, organic unity with one another but simply to promote better relations.

Sorry to point this out resty - in the case of when you posted this topic, there was no 'co-operation' or toleration for an opposing view - only a controlled dialogue to only present one side - mormonism. Crying about the mod is weak resty and poor form.

Not interested only because the course of the discussion cannot be 'controlled' eh?

Thus, ecumenism is the promotion of unity or cooperation between distinct religious groups or denominations of Christianity.

That definition in application to mormonism is intellictually dishonest. Mormonism has enshrined within its very doctrine exactly the opposite - it views all non-mormon churches as being of the devil and mormonism the only true church. That is your doctrine. Smooth talk of 'ecumenism' and 'unity' is the talk used by satan in the garden.

Ecumenism is distinguished from and should not be misused to mean interfaith pluralism.

mormonism rejects the fundamentals that join the various denomination of Christianity together - it has nothing in common with Christianity except for the hijacked name in large print on its meeting halls.

Wow Resty, since when do you decide if and where the Holy Spirit is welcome?

Anyway, isn't it "gifts" of the Holy Spirit, LOL?

Isaiah 45:18 For this is what the LORD says— he who created the heavens, he is God; he who fashioned and made the earth, he founded it; he did not create it to be empty, but formed it to be inhabited— he says: "I am the LORD, and there is no other."

LDS Pearl of Great Price Chapter 4: the "gods" performed the creation.

Mormons are are much more like hindus or buddhists than Christians.

The "ecumenical" tag for Religion Forum threads is for moderating purposes only, i.e. to designate that antagonism should not be allowed on the thread.

Dictionary definitions of the word "ecumenical" are not relevant, e.g. "promotion of unity or cooperation between distinct religious groups or denominations of Christianity."

Put another way, antis are welcome to post on "ecumenical" RF threads as long as they are not being antagonistic.

If you do not want antis on an RF thread, it must be labeled as a "caucus" "prayer" or "devotional" thread.

Golly!

This is EXACTLY what the World Council of Churchs promotes.

Do you MORMONs belong to THAT organization?

When the Holy Spirit is not welcome I am not interested!

And, who decides where the Holy Spirit is welcome???

I think the attempt to "finesse" the Religion Forum guidelines by trying to change the definition of "ecumenical" was a total....

apologetic fail

The RM doesn't require guidance in formatting forum rules, and neither do other FReepers.

“When the Holy Spirit is not welcome I am not interested!”

WHICH Holy Spirit are you referring to?

The mormon holy spirit who is a created being who never got a body because he was naughty?

OR

The Biblical Holy Spirit, who has always been God - neither created nor made, but eternal?

Which, resty?
