This is one of those instances of a (dare I type it...) "anti"-Catholic doing a better job of spreading the Catholic Faith than the actual Catholics. The parallels between the Ark of the Covenant and Mary aren't so much about the Ark and Mary as What/Who they carried. It's not easy to deny that 2 Sam 6:1-20 and the account of the Visitation in St. Luke do have some striking similarities, well at least it's not easy for me to deny it.
The whole Mary as the new Eve thing again isn't as much about Mary and Eve as about Jesus being the new Adam.
