Beware of this phony Catholic group -- Catholics for Equality
"Catholics" for Equality ^ | Antoninus

Joining such nefarious organizations as "Catholics for Free Choice" and "Dignity" is a new phony front group of so-called Catholics advocating immoral behaviors in direct dissent from the authentic teachings of the Catholic Church.

This new group, Catholics for Equality, is an advocacy group for homosexual marriage.

Following is their "about" statement:

Catholics for Equality empowers pro-equality Catholics to put our faith into ethical and effective political action on behalf of the LGBT community and their families.

Drawing on the rich tradition of Catholic social justice teachings, grounded in the Gospel message of Love, American Catholics are among the strongest supporters of equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered (LGBT) people of any religious group in the U.S.

Yet the official voice of the hierarchy increasingly advocates discrimination and opposes reasonable measures to secure basic freedoms for LGBT Americans. Far too often, the anti-freedom voice of the hierarchy is portrayed as representing the moral values of American Catholics.

We believe this trend is a repudiation of Catholic belief in the inherent dignity of every person. It further contradicts the American values of fairness and equality for all citizens under the law enshrined in the U.S. Constitution.

Catholics for Equality was founded in 2010 to support, educate, and mobilize Catholics in the advancement of freedom and equality at the federal, state, and local levels for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered family, parish and community members.

We’re here to help Catholics make a difference!

I received spam from this group in my email. Our Bishops need to make a forceful statement that this group is heretical in nature and may not be considered truly Catholic in any way, shape, or form.

A proliferation of phony, astroturf front groups to give the impression of numbers is straight out of the Alinsky playbook.

On investigation, you’ll probably find all these groups sharing the same street address and office suite.

“Catholics for Equality” gives them away.

Lefties always give themselves away by the titles of their organizations.

When times get tough, people return to church... the lefties know this and are attacking organized religion by means of confusion in order to disenfranchise would be voters.
Kinda reminds me of all these “veterans” groups who were coming out against the war when Bush was in office but not a single peep now that Obama is CIC. what a joke.

That's exactly what this is. They remind me of Obama's "Catholic" flaks like Doug Kmiec--people who claim you can still be a good Catholic by denouncing what good Catholics are supposed to believe.

It's time to slam these people.

"Drawing on the rich tradition of a grand total of zero Catholic social justice teachings..."

Send this to your bishop.

You know communism is a fraud when its members have to sell it by trying to pass themselves off as Catholics.

On an earlier thread, I had suggested the way to fix this confusion......... whenever an article or publication or, for that matter, anything antithetical to the legitimate Catholic Church and it’s teachings is published, just DON’T dignify their titles, with a capital “C”. In simple terms, the word “catholic” with a small “c” means “universal”.... Problem solved. Small “c” = “universal”........... Capital “C” = the Catholic Church and it’s teachings.

That's what punctuation is for: e.g. “’Catholics’ for Equality” (The apostrophes indicating skepticism). That's the way I do it anywayz. If you fail to capitalize the reader might assume you are ignorant about the use of proper nouns or even anti-Catholic
